DDA Chapter 22

Maybe, just maybe, we could plan it where you come down here (in Sept) and then we venture off to F'burg for a mini meet:idea:

Oh, Elin & Tammi, any weekends that would work?!?!

Depends on which weekend. I am not going away in September (not till October 2) so I ought to be free. Let's keep talking!

Elin there was a lot of speculation on the theme park board that prices will go up and Robo stated that it is usually between 3-6%. Also a lot of people were asking why Disney would raise prices being they are offering free dinning and someone mentioned that what most people don't understand is that free dinning is not really free, because you are paying rack rate for the rooms.

I know why people say it isn't really free. But those restaurants are taking a hit. Somewhere, someone is getting cut out of their profit. And that is the bottom line. If you are cutting profit somewhere why for goodness' sake would you raise prices elsewhere right now? Postpone the increase until February 1, or something and make a big announcement saying that in the interest of the economy and the fact that Disney Parks knows that families still want to travel they are not increasing ticket costs at this time. That would go a long way to making people feel they could afford those rack rates.

All of you Dec. travelers have me thinking!
Our 25th Anniv. is Dec. 8th, so we are trying to plan a trip around then. Some of our paths might cross!

One of the kids from the Make-a-Wish board passed away yesterday, so sad. :sad1: His name was Noah.
The Dis now has a new smiley named Noah. :littleangel::littleangel: I thought that was really touching!

I hope you and Angie can make it work, Tom. And the Noah smiley just made me cry. :(

Good luck getting a trip organized!

I noticed the new smilie, but I didn't know the story behind it. So sad for Noah's family. :guilty:

Maybe they need to pay for the mandatory overtime that the cast members we call are being forced to do because all these specials are coming out...most are up to 10 hour days and they still aren't hiring more people.

Tom - that is so sad about Noah

Heidi - I would definitely go with the more grown up camera, nine year olds feel like they are adults these days.

Happy Birthday Anne Marie and Dana

All this talk about December trips has me considering a weekend trip on the
4th and 5th, we'll see how things go.

Most companies feel that it is more cost effective to pay OT rather than hire more employees and pay out more in benefits.

Love the babie's room, how are you feeling?

The weekends of the 12th and 26th work for me!

Happy birthday, Anne Marie and Dana!

Theresa -

Well, my week is over. I've worked 10 hour days so tomorrow I'm off. We are going to take the train up to DC and do some sightseeing. We are planning on seeing Ford's Theater (where Abe was shot), the Law Enforcement Memorial (I need to get a few etchings), Jefferson and Lincoln monuments, American Art and American History Museums. I hope the rain holds off until late afternoon.

Tom hope you will be able to make the anniversary trip happen. :wizard:

Good thoughts for Noah's family. :littleangel:

Debbie you are so right about kids wanting to be grown-ups, don't know why they are in such a hurry.

There are things in my past that made me grow up faster then most and sometimes I miss the things I didn't get to do.

Hello all.

Theresa - Lots of :grouphug: coming your way and bringing with it buckets of :wizard:. I wish there were something we could do to help.

Tammi - Enjoy your trip to DC tomorrow! I hope it stays dry.

Tom - Hope your trip works out.

Heidi - I'd definitely go with the Kodak. She'll be able to get more out of it.

Sounds like the jealousy from my house will be abounding in early Dec with so many of you there! Wahhhh! ;)

Becky - Sorry your night was a long one. I hope the game got to be played long enough to make all of the trouble worth it.

Elizabeth - Glad you survived your busy week, and especially the playdate. Hope they can get your water issue fixed before you go! Have a great trip.

Anne Marie - Happy birthday to you and Dana!

Thank you everyone for your thoughts on the camera, I will be getting the Kodak tomorrow.

That is so sad. How can they do that and keep them as part-time?

Tammi - sounds like a wonderful day for you guys! Enjoy the city. :)

UUgh. The boys finished their leadership tonight with a nice discussion group. I think they learned a lot. Unfortunately that means their Adventure day is tomorrow. They are supposed to do a challenge/rope course in the morning, have lunch then do a kayak trip. With all the rain we've had the river is severly swollen, super fast and filled with debris. The leadership coordinators have very little info as they contracted this part out and won't even be there :headache: They can't give us info on supervision, lifeguard or anything and no permission slips came home which means that kids that are carpooling with other kids will have no one there to give permission and on top of that it is supposed to rain tomorrow with HEAVY thunderstorms. As a parent, I'm concerned, as a lifeguard I'm more concerned. One of the other Dads is the fire chief and he is right there with me. We'll show up tomorrow and decide then how much we let the kids do. I'll pick the boys up at the point where I'm no longer comfortable.

The weekend of Sept. 26th would work better for me.

Yikes, Deb!! That is a crazy situation. Good luck making your way through the day tomorrow. I'm glad several other parents are concerned too!

Walt Disney Co just posted a 26% loss for last quarter. :(
