Good morning. :)

It's Monday. Bleh.
I totally agree!! ;)
Post 20,000 for me :yay:
Congrats!! :cool1::banana:

I wish I could call my Dad to sing Happy Birthday to him. He would have been 89 today.

I decided to stay home with the little ones today. I didn't sleep that well and I'm definitely not feeling 100% so I decided not to push myself too much. Colby is up, but Hunter is still sleeping. I made them 11:20 doctor appointments. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this. It's over a month now.
Hope you all feel better soon!!:grouphug:
I'm still trying to catch up on the old thread, but had to come here and post a yummy recipe I tried last night.

Caramel Apple-Pear Crisp

3 medium pears, peeled and sliced
2 medium tart apples, peeled and sliced
2 Tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/3 C. caramel ice cream topping
1/4 C. quick cooking oats
1/4 C. packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp. flour
3 Tbsp. cold butter
1/4 C. chopped walnuts
Cool Whip

In a large bowl, combine pears, apples, sugar and allspice. Transfer to a greased 8-inch baking dish. Drizzle with caramel topping. In a small bowl, combine oats, brown sugar and flour. Cut in butter until crumbly; stir in walnuts. Sprinkle over fruit mixture. Bake at 375 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until topping is golden brown and fruit is tender. Let stand 15 minutes. Spoon cooking juiced over each serving; garnish with Cool Whip.

Going back to catch up, now.

Oooh that sounds yummy!!

Hi all! I wanted to pop in and thank you for your concern for us :flower3: Avery is well, and sure as heck had better stay that way. Elise is still pretty darn sick, but she has continued to eat well enough (as expected) to keep her out of the hospital. We're on day 8, so hopefully winding down, if Avery's illness was any indication (11 days, this round ). After that, all I can say is we had better be done for a LONG time.

Kyle started today on what is probably his worst month to date, and what will most definitely be the worst month he has for the rest of his career. We were pretending to be happy about that part, but it's not enough to make up for the fact that I don't even know when he'll be coming home - today, tomorrow...? I honestly have no idea! :rotfl:

My funk has been somewhat lifted by the prospect of well girls, but I'm praying they stay well at least long enough for me to full recover! It's been a long 3 months! :faint:

I hope you all are doing well, and Janet I REALLY hope you hear good news from the doctor soon. Ridiculous that you've been waiting this long! You have been in my prayers, as well as all the sick DDA ladies and babies. :(

Take care! :grouphug:
I hope the month goes by quickly for all of you!!:grouphug:

This morning I get to go with Stephanie's class to a play of Junie B. Jones. She's excited!

Well, the actual service he is on is the Cardiac ICU at a major regional hospital. That sucks in and of itself, but doesn't affect me directly ;)

The schedule is what's so bad this month, for all of us. He's "on call" today, but there are no defined rules about what that means on this service. They follow federal rules such as no longer than 30 hour shifts, so I know he'll be home by tomorrow afternoon.... but in general that hospital utilizes a night float service, which means when he is on call there he comes home at about 11pm. That's all fine, and might happen, but if it did then he would be right back at 6am tomorrow for an entire day (instead of coming home early), so it's not really better than overnight call! Or is it, considering he'd at least get a few hours' sleep...? :upsidedow

That will be the dilemma each "call" situation. The other days he will work long night "shifts" (7p-9:30a) or day "shifts" (6a-10p), sometimes back to back.... which essentially makes it a nearly 24 hour shift, but not technically "call"..... so he isn't sure what any of it means. And not because nobody has informed him, but because there aren't set guidelines - it's pretty much dependent on the census at a given time, and where/when they need people.

On the most "normal" of days, he'll work from about 6a-6p, but that only happens 2 or 3 times this whole month, and often paired up with a string of night shifts or call shifts or.... I don't even know.

It's a mess, but I think that almost covers the options! :rotfl:

Clear as mud? ;)

ETA: He'll still be under federal residency guidelines so he won't work more than the normal/maximum 80-hours per week, and he has to have 4 days off in the month...... the difference this month (considering all of that is the normal, crappy life of a resident and his family), is that there are no defined boundaries really of WHEN those hours take place. There is a skeleton sort of "schedule", but it means very little
Yes, exactly. Now my head is spinning. :wizard: that it goes quickly for him, and you!

And Tammi, I have lots of blog posts, even in addition to WDW stuff, to catch up on.... soon, I hope! I'll do my best, but I'm on my own this month as you read. And I'm not nearly as organized or strong or energetic and all the other things you are to do it all the time! :faint: :goodvibes:flower3:
I understand, and know you'll get to it when you can. I'm being very patient.

I'm all caught up! I hate when I can't get on during the weekend. Makes Monday mornings full of catch up!

Deb - I'm glad the antibiotics seem to be working. Now, let's get your men well!

Robyn - I'm glad you enjoyed the camping trip. That's one thing I've never really enjoyed. It's better now that we have our pop up trailer. I just don't enjoy tent camping. I do enjoy sitting around a campfire enjoying a quiet night.

Janet - I'm praying and keeping my fingers crossed for you and Gary. I'm inclined to agree with Marci, that if something were really wrong, they'd have let you know on Friday. Maybe that's me being optimistic! I'll keep crossing things until I hear from you!

Chanon - Welcome back! Loved the pictures! We're taking the kids to DL via the Grand Canyon in 2 months, so I can't wait to show them your pictures! Love the ticker! Since you're using a bee on your ticker, can we call your baby Baby Bee???

Elizabeth - I have the same frustrations with Alan as you do with your hubby. On his days off, he just wants to stay in bed, with his laptop going and a Diet Coke in his hand. He doesn't think about doing laundry, or interacting with the kids unless I nag him about it. I honestly think men's brains are wired differently (Tom being the exception).

Well, we are smack back in winter here! We woke up to 4 inches of snow this morning. Grrr! I hate it!!!!

Oh, I forgot to mention, we got hit with whatever's been going around lately. Leslie has had a fever and a hacking cough. Jacob had a fever, but his seems to be gone. Leslie is home from school, though. The baby is also coughing and sneezing. I hope it doesn't last as long as it has for Deb's family!

Jennifer-I am sorry it's going to be one heckuva month for you and Kyle. But, I am pleased to hear that the girls might be on the mend for good!!

Deb-I am glad you are feeling better, I wish the boys were too. Don't overexert yourself...no relapses Missy!!

Elin-I am glad you sang to your dad:hug:

Abi is staying home today as she was complaining of a sick stomach last night and this morning and running a low grade fever. I didn't want to chance her throwing up at school.

Elizabeth - I have the same frustrations with Jeff as you do with your hubby. On his days off, he just wants to sit at the computer and a Coke in his hand. He doesn't think about doing laundry, or interacting with the kids unless I nag him about it. Unless he is home alone with the girls then he interacts some and does his laundry if I call and remind him. Of course its usually about an hour before I get home.

Jennifer - That is one heck of a schedule this month! You'll make it through with flying colors, though. You do it so well.

Deb - Sounds like a productive morning, but definitely get that nap in. We want to keep you on the improving streak.

I knew I forgot someone! Jennifer! I'm so sorry this is shaping up to be a bear of a month for you and Kyle. I'm so glad to hear that Avery and Elise are (hopefully) on the mend! I'll keep y'all in my prayers that this month goes quickly, and without any more sickness.

Theresa - I'm so sorry about Abi! No fun! Leslie is home as well. Yuck! I was counting on this week to do all the Easter shopping, and now I'm one day behind! Luckily, Grandpa bought all 3 girls dresses, so I'm just looking for Timothy and Jacob (not to mention all the basket goodies).

I've been meaning to ask: Elin (or anyone else, for that matter), how was the Edible Arrangement? I'm asking because we are going to my dad's house for Easter, and I'm thinking about ordering one for a centerpiece. There are going to be a whole bunch of us there, and I thought that would be a nice thing to have. How's the fruit? Fresh? Tasty? Any thoughts?

I'm not Elin, but I've had the Edible Arrangements and they are delicious! I think Elin had a wonderful experience with hers as well. Get one that has chocolate covered pineapples. MMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

We're home and both boys are now on amoxicillin :cool1: She is treating both of them for sinusitis based on how long they've been sick. Hunter cannot go to school tomorrow as he is clearly sicker than Colby, we'll see how colby does between now and then. Hunter will stay at my parent's house tonight as Dad can take care of him tomorrow. I pray that this is the end of it for us.

thanks, Tammi! I thought I remembered that you'd had one, as well. the pineapples sound so yummy! I think I'll go ahead and place an order to have one delivered to Dad's house.

I'm so glad that the boys are on medication, now! This has gone on long enough! Here's hoping it works quickly, and both boys start to feel better soon!

How are you feeling? Have you taken your nap, yet?

Which would be better Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? My guys love the water but are not good swimmers. (they float & doggy paddle mostly, :rotfl:)

Deb,
Hope this the end of the sickness in your house.

Glynis,
We have had the edible arrangements & the are fresh & tasty. Everyone likes them.

Chanon,
Nice pictures!

Tammi,
Nice pictures!

Theresa,
:wizard: for Abi.

Kelli,
Have fun at the play.

Glynis - that recipe does sound good. I have saved it!

Jennifer - I hope the four of you make it easily through this next month.

Both that we have had were wonderful. I agree with Tammi - get the chocolate covered pineapple!!

My kids prefer Blizzard beach in general. the slides seem longer and I think there are a few more of them. Typhoon Lagoon has a better wave pool and the water roller coaster. The coaster is not one of our favorites.

I'm feeling okay though my cough has amped up a bit this afternoon. I did take a short nap with the boys. I think I slept about an hour. At that point Chris came home to get his Lacrosse equiment and the cat had a series of sneezing fits. Poor kitty has the cold that we are all fighting.

We are off to the vet in a few short minutes. He needs his bloodwork checked again. From there Nick will go to Lacrosse and Hunter and Colby will go to my parents while I get groceries. Then Chris and Nick will pick up colby as Hunter is staying with papa and hopefully we will all get home at a reasonable hour.
