Elizabeth----Come to the dark side of home ownership!!!!!!

We are temporarily stalled. Apparently that ONE house I called about is the ONLY house that really fits our specifications as far as location, size, and price range. I never did schedule a time to go look at it because I don't think we want to act as fast as we would need to in order to get that particular house. The asking price is a little higher than what they told us our max mortgage could be, and I don't want to be overextended right out of the starting gate. We could lease it very easily, but we would be back to breaking our current lease and paying the penalty.

So I think we are back in neutral for the time being!

Elizabeth, good luck on the house. I would have the seller pay my penalty. In this housing market, if you can qualify for a mortgage, you can pretty much write your ticket.

Vicki, that is so scary. So glad you are okay.

Well, we built a fire and my DD thought she had the flue open. Hmmmm, no. So we had to open the front door in this 6 degree weather to air out the house. And the fire alarm keeps going off.

But now it is so nice.

Did the Fire Company visit your home?????

I think this house thing is going to get out of control. I was Googling earlier today and found this really nice house very close to the one we looked at Wednesday. But this one is bigger and has more updates to the interior. It is listed as sale or lease. So I phoned the agent and she really thought I should look into qualifying for a mortgage. Hmm.

I called a mortgage guy just for fun. Gave him our info, he ran our credit, and now he is running us through some sort of mortgage calculator to see what comes up. The magic formula says we are "readily approvable". We just need to provide some supporting documents. Huh. Who knew? I wonder if this means we are actually going to buy a house?

How exciting! You can't beat the tax break!

I made it home safe last night but not without incident. I had one of those zoned out times. I swear I looked in my blind spot but missed seeing a car. I was merging into the left lane and heard honking. I immediately went back into my lane. I felt quite bad that I missed him. Well, the other driver had a serious case of road rage. He pulled in front of me and slowed down to 5 miles below the speed limit. He blocked me in so I couldn't pass him. He kept cutting me off if I tried to pass. He missed my car by a few inches two different times. That was when I decided to call 911. I gave them his license plate. I also slowed way down so he knew I was going to stop trying to get around him. He finally just took off after about 15-20 minutes. I caught back up with him about 1/2 hour later but about 5 minutes after that, he pulled off the expressway.

We've all been there when we look and swear we don't see anything. I'm just sorry the idiot that you innocently missed turned out to be such a jerk. You did the right thing by not playing along with his game.

I'm so glad it's the weekend, and a long one to boot. Although I am dreading this inauguration crap. It is going to be CRAZY around here. I have to be at work at 3AM on Tuesday, which I guess is good because if I went in at regular time I probably would never get there. They are shutting major interstates into DC down, which is going to make driving around northern Virginia unbearable. I see major gridlock in my future. Anyway, Bob will spend the night here and take the kids to daycare in the morning. They are off on Tuesday as well. The good thing is that I SHOULD be able to head home early in the afternoon, hopefully beating all the crowds.

Tonight Alyssa had her third tap class, and I must say she is catching on quite well. I was concerned because I put her in mid-year, and she is actually in a tap 2 class, with 7/8 yr olds. She got frustrated the first two times because she wasn't picking it up. I hope she enjoys it because there is no turning back. I already paid her costume fee for the spring show!

Then we came home and had pizza and movie night. I picked up "Ballet Shoes" at Redbox, about an orphan who becomes a ballet dancer. It got a 6 thumbs up. Now we are in my bed having a sleepover.

Wow Tom those are beautiful. You are definitely in the wrong occupation. I've been following Matthew's thread about Mya's trip and I'm anxiously waiting to see the creations that you all make.

That is very scary. There are some people that should not have drivers licenses due to their mentality. Road rage is very serious. I'm glad that you called 911 and that he finally moved on

Work was excrusiationly slow tonight. I'm sure the cold temps have people hibernating. I'm not working tomorrow. I'm hoping to get our furniture sprayed with the pesticides and get them reassembled. I didn't make any progress on my to do list this week. I seem to find better things to do

Colby met me at the door tonight all excited. He had matched up all his lower case letters with his upper case letters and put them in alphabetical order He also did some pages in his workbooks. He was so happy and snuggly

not because of weather, they never do that. Instead, it's because of bus vandalism! (I think it's kind of funny, and I suppose indirectly related to weather. There are cameras, though, so someone is going to get in big trouble!)

WHen i was in high school, a bunch of seniors vandalized buses--i think it was slashing tires. But they got in a ton of trouble, had so many fines, but ended up on some show on MTV

Today was actually a great day-Work was work..but it is Friday so it wasnt too bad...
After work, I did dinner with my family, then my cousin, brother's girlfriend and I went out for some drinks. We ended up staying out from 930-130, which i havent done in forever. It was a blast just hanging out with some people we found there. Lots of people we graduated high school with so it was nice c atching up. A friend of my brothers was hanging out with us for awhile and ended up buying our drinks so that was nice...e came home, played the Wii for awhile and now im watching Greys Anatomy from last night since i am wide awake! happy weekend!

Good Morning,

Inventory is over, the figure is much improved over last year. I do have to go in today to key any corrections that are found today. Normally it would be over for a year, but we'll do it all again in August.


Tom - Leighanna is so pretty, the Minnie dress is definitely my favorite, we'll be expecting to see a picture of her and Minnie while she's wearing that dress.

Vicki - Glad you're ok, I've done a few "zoned out" things while driving.

Janet - Congrats for Europe!

Marci - Great start on your trip report, your boys sure have grown.

Deb - Congrats to Colby, sorry work was so slow. It was really quiet at work yesterday, even though it was in the high 30's, for us southerners that's really cold and most of us don't have the right clothing to stay warm.

Amy - Glad you're having a great time, can't wait to see pictures.

Bernadette - I hope you and Lizzy have a magical trip, I'm going to miss seeing you this year.

We're having a heat wave. It is 4 degrees.

My friends that I went to Disney with last December are in DC. They are going to the inauguration and also the Illinois Ball on Monday. I'm so excited for them.

I have enough wood to build a fire for the next few days. I'm going to be tv bound. Between football on Sunday, MLK shows on Monday, the pre-inauguration shows on Monday, Oprah with Deb Wills in the audience on Monday and then I'm going to fire up the DVR for Tuesday.

I so wish I could take off Tuesday, but I have to do payroll. Somehow, I don't think the staff would understand getting paid a day late so I can participate in the this historic occassion.

Off to the Farm Show today. Maple cotton candy, yummy baked potatoes, apples, lamb stew, fried vegetables and the bestest milkshakes.

I've got to figure out what we are going to do for my youngest grandson's birthday. Woo Hoo!
