DDA Chapter 17

Terry sorry to hear about uncle Walt.

John had an uncle Walt too.

Thanks for this heads up. I was thinking about getting it, but not if the smell its going to kill me.

A word about those stick-on toilet gel things:
They aren't as fun to stick on as they look in the commercial. And the citrus ones have an INCREDIBLY strong scent. We'll see if the scent dissipates over the next couple of days, but right now it is almost overpowering.

I am going to send out Valentines.

Edited: Got the info thanks.

We got one when they first came out....it was stinky from day one til we took it down.

Terry- I am sorry to hear about Uncle Walt. Give Hal my condolences, please.

I woke up at 3:30 with a migraine and slept fitfully until 6:30 with no medication....took some Excedrin migraine and just now the pain is diminishing but since I am up I will probably just stay up for the day (with a nap hopefully this afternoon).

much later than yours, Terry :( {12/18 (or 19) through 12/27 (or 28)} One day I would love to be able to go earlier in the month but with all my recitals I can't get away to do Mousefest. :sad2:

I'd love it if you stayed until 12/28.... :)

Good morning. I promise that I read everything, but it was late when I got home last night and I didn't have the energy to post. I know that there were so great achievements :cheer2: from Vicki, Becky and Tom. There were still some sickos :wizard: :wizard: and I'm sure there was need for some hugs too

I worked last night and it was a fairly decent night in some aspects. We had people coming through the door. I actually waited on 37 people :cheer2: Unfortunately that was really the only good part. The new kitchen could not keep up so meals were taking forever to come out and when they came out there was sure to be something not cooked as ordered. So all of the waitstaff spent most of our time trying to keep customers happy until food finally came out. Thankfully we have a huge salad bar so people had plenty to munch on if they so chose. The new kitchen also does not know how to order and we are now frequently running out of food items that are on our main menu, not to mention staple items such as our famous prime rib ( a HUGE prime rib that draws customers in and brings them back) and we even ran out of baked potatoes for a period of time while they cooked more. Obviously there is no excuse for any of this and it makes the restaurant look bad. I can't tell you how much apologizing we did, and that was before their meals even came out. We probably did over 300 meals, but there have been times in the past when we've done over 500 meals in one night. These guys have no ability to put out that much food :sad2: So after we finished up all 8 waitstaff and one of the busser/waitresses went out to the bar for a well deserved drink. 15 years ago this was a regular thing for the waitstaff, we actually socialized. During this time a staff meeting broke out as on of the owners walked out. We feel that this impromtu meeting brought out a lot of our concerns and stresses as well as many things that the management may not be seeing. They are now trying to organize a full staff meeting. They are thinking a Sunday afternoon in a couple of weeks. As the first impromtu meeting was breaking up one of the other owners pulled me aside. He needs me to do some car rental searching for him, but that too turned into a business meeting. He is the owner that is always sober, listens, but he is not the one that we usually deal with. He does however respect my opinion. He actually asked me what I would do if I were him. I gave him straight answers, some of which I think suprised him. I also hope that I didn't offend him when I told him that they don't have a business to sell anymore, they have a parking lot and old building (sometimes the truth hurts). It seems that they really want to make these new guys work out rather than starting over again (that may not be possible in my opinion, but it is not my call). So now we wait to see if anything comes of all this. The second owner did say that he wants to sit down with me sometime to discuss it further :confused3 As you can imagine I was pretty wiped out by the time I got home.

That's just crappy. They will quickly lose business over these types of things, as people are more careful about the money they spend with the economy in the tank.

I need some opinions, my inlaws have their 50th Anniversary this summer, and my SIL's are planning on a reception/party and a large group gift. The expenses would be split 4 ways, the fifth will have some excuse as to why he can't contribute.

I'm fine with doing either or, I think helping with the reception, expenses and the work, is gift enough, I don't think both are necessary. I'll have to talk it over with DH, but if it doesn't involve Disney or grandchildren he is usually against spending money.

I do plan on telling them that they need to keep expenses under control.

Any ideas?

I agree with Deb. A framed pic or a small scrapbook would be terrific gifts.

That is pretty darn impressive!! He's a good guy Tammi!!!!

Bill has only pulled off one big surprise.....

prior to getting married, we were celebrating his birthday....he told me to invite everyone (both families) to my house for pizza and we would just have a good time...so I did. I thought it was odd that he was wearing a sport's coat because I didn't think it was a dressy event...but whatever.

After pizza, I bring out the cake and he jumps up and says, let's all drink wine first....wine before cake? whatever....so I pour everyone wine...and the I proceed to want to cut the cake...he jumps up and says, "I want to make a toast" at this point I am just thinking he's nuts....but again, whatever....

well, he launches into this whole sentimental speech, drops to his knee...takes the ring box out of his sports jacket and proposes! :faint:

Ahhh! What a sweetie! :goodvibes

Debbie, I know what you mean. I now have three pieces from the Jim Shore Collection. One I bought while on the cruise because I had some shipboard credit. After I bought it, we saw on our daily navigator that Jim Shore was onboard and was going to sign pieces that we had purchased. That means more to me than anything.

http://www.jimshore.com/shop/search.aspx?SearchTerm=tinkerbell

The first piece I got from my sister, the bell is the one I got signed by Jim Shore and the sixth piece down is the one Vicki sent me this year.

here I am with Jim Shore.

He is the nicest person.

I bought three new Jim Shore pieces before Christmas, and saw at least three more I wanted at WDW, but didn't buy. How special that you got to meet him! I'm sorry about Uncle Walt.

Did we just have a weekend? I'm not sure where it went. Family visitations, burial, memorial, two basketball games, Jake's birthday party, and a host of other crappy errands/chores. I didn't do very well on my eating/exercise either.

Today's another day. I'll leave it at that and see how I do! :rotfl:

Have a good day DDA!

Theresa -- I hope you feel better and find some great job leads today!

thank you....I think I get to go shovel the walk shortly. Our next door neighbor is awesome...he was out just before 7 shoveling so that the girls had a clear walk down the driveway. :goodvibes

Damn I opened the mini blinds and it wasn't a dream, we did get a lot of snow. :sad2:

Sorry. I think we are going to have a pretty decent day.

Thanks for this heads up. I was thinking about getting it, but not if the smell its going to kill me.

It is strong, and not particularly pleasant. It is more grapefruit than anything else, but with "toilet cleaner" undertones. We always keep our toilet lids closed so the cats don't play in the water, so when you open the lid you get a big "whoosh" of chemical grapefruit. :scared:

Feel better, Theresa! :wizard:

Feel better Theresa,
I went to bed last night with a Migraine I also took some Exedrine Migraine I woke up with a migraine still. I also add sneezing and runny nose to that.

Good Morning. I got to sleep in today. Well I was awake for over an hour between Chris getting up, phone ringing kids talking loudly etc. Once they left for school I fell happily back asleep and stayed there until 9:30 :cool1: That was a nice treat. I don't think I feel like working on the bathroom so I may get some little sewing projects out of the way today. My mother gave me a new bag for my sewing machine so I need to get things transfered around anyway. I need to go to school a bit early to pick up Colby since I need to tie up a few loose ends there. I'm only scheduled for 3 nights this week so I'll have more time at home. I'm hoping that I can pick up Saturday night too as someone usually gets sick or makes other plans.

Looks like I've set my dates for F&W. I'll be there October 1-6th. So Elin, I'll be crashing your party again!!! :hippie: :cool1:

:yay: :dance3: :yay: It is just Bob and me so crash away! Where are you staying??

Elizabeth - I hope your back is doing better today.

Theresa - GO AWAY HEADACHE!!!

Marci - I will keep you in mind as I plan my December itinerary ;)

Terry - please extend my condolences to Hal and his family.

Good morning, DDA!!!!

Theresa - I hope your head is feeling better!

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: to feel better soon!!

Because I've been up so long....I am hungry! So off to find some food...normally I would say chex sounds yummy but it's cold outside!!

Well, the open housing went pretty well yesterday. Terra and I ended up seeing 9 houses. 3 were all right together and while they were cute, the neighborhood and home-style is just too unique to really see appreciation, I think. We did find 3 that I really liked. As soon as we get the go-ahead from Phil's mom we'll check on those more, plus keep looking some more. From the 12 houses we've seen the last two Sunday's I think I now have a good handle on what we're looking for and what is out there in those categories. Now, to just let MIL finish their taxes and get things in line for us to proceed.

That is very exciting, Tia! :goodvibes
