DDA Chapter 14

Nicholas' team lost today. He doesn't seem to be too upset. I did feel bad for the boys though. Oh well, now I have a little more free time. Nicholas did say that he wants to play again next year, so I'm glad about that.

I am glad he is OK with the loss! Sounds like he enjoyed the season! :thumbsup2

Hello from OKW

We're taking a break while DH yells at the TV, he is a diehard Bama fan, and right now LSU is leading. :rotfl:

We had a horrible drive yesterday, for almost two hours we were in a torrential downpour, I was petrified.

Yikes! I am glad you arrived safely!

Tammi and Alyssa and Kristin and I had a nice lunch at Red Robin today. :goodvibes

They got to see my new hair... My hairdresser and I misunderstood one another and I ended up with burgundy hair! I will have to see whether or not I like it. Kristin hates it and Tammi was very diplomatic and said she liked the darkness of it. I think Alyssa was afraid of it! :rotfl:

Oops.

Elin, I think the color is just fine, but I agree it might tone down after a few washings.

It doesn't look too purple from the pics!

All of this talk about more Disney trips is making me jealous. After our December trip I have no idea when we will be back. Probably sometime in the summer, which depends on my work schedule.

I hear August is nice. :rolleyes1

I am trying to figure out our meals now, this trip will be just Gary & I. I talked him into taking a trip to Disney alone with me, I can't believe it :faint: I got him with the $200 gift card, told him he could use it to drink around Epcot :rotfl:

Seriously though I am very excited, I did not think he would ever do this. I look forward this trip very much :dance3:

That's great! Have fun planning!

It was a decent night at work for a change :cool1: I'm hoping that with gas prices falling more people will be out. Gas is under $2.40/ gallon. I did hear people complaining that they prebought their oil when it was $4/gallon so seeing the prices fall is killing them. It seems that no matter what you do you can't win.

We saw gas tonight for $1.96. Not in an area where it is safe to get out of the car, but I did see it! :rotfl2:
We got an e-mail about locking in the price on our electricity for the next 12 months but I just don't know. If the prices goes down we are still locked in at that set rate so we'd be paying more.

So the party was OK. I asked Uncle1 what I should wear when he came to pick up DS. He said I should wear the new top. So I did. I thought it looked very nice. The party was a lot of yammering, a lot of awards (for people other than DH), a display building contest (I don't know who decided that is fun, because it really isn't). They were calling names for prizes all night but it was nearly impossible to hear over the music. Food was standard buffet fare - nothing fabulous.

In the end we got 2 hats with "Frito Bean Dip" logos, a Frito Lay pullover sweatshirt (which is nice), 2 baseballs (one autographed, one commemorative), and a really cool Starbucks thermos and mug set in a little zippered case. Oh, and 2 bags of chips, and a photo of DH and me.

We could have gone on the TX Stadium tour but we opted to just stay in the "Stadium Club" for the party. I don't need to see a stadium, and we didn't have a camera with us. There were 2 Cowboy cheerleaders signing autographs but we didn't go through the line for that.

There was one girl in a teeny little string of a dress who looked suspiciously like a prostitute. DH didn't know the guy she was with, but she was turning lots of heads. I got to meet the new girlfriends of 2 of the guys who have dumped (or been dumped by) their wives since last year's party. Other than that it was uneventful. ;)

Scraplifting! Happy Anniversary Elizabeth!

I'm caught up. I read but didn't reply. I had to go back to Tuesday. :rolleyes1

Nice photos. I love the signature photo Jennifer.

Nice hair Elin. Your kids are really funny Tammi.

Glad the March trips are shaping up! Wish I could be there, but I'll be in Hilton Head.

Hi Debbie, how do you like OKW?

My eyes are itching me like crazy. I'm so sick of my allergies acting up. This is my second round of antibiotics. NIte all.

Jennifer - it looks like you have two DDA babysitters available for a night out with your husband at Disney!! :rolleyes1 (JK!!!)

I was thinking exactly the same thing!!! I agree with Janet, I'd feel like I was in heaven - Disney and two little ones? Wow! Especially since I'd be able to return them to their parents before I had them long enough for the enjoyment to wear off. :lmao:

I'm trying to get started on work stuff. This acting position has me really out of sorts. It's not that I can't do it but I'm still back & forth on whether it really suits me. The final decision doesn't need to be made until the position is posted which will be at least another month or two so I have to stop thinking/worrying so much about making it.

First they have to post and fill the top job. Then if the person that I'm acting for gets that job, they will post his vacancy and I'll have to apply and actually get it. In a perfect world, that would take about two months. The last time they did this, it took 19 months for it all to happen because there was a hiring freeze. It is very likely with the current economy that there will be another hiring freeze. If that happens, then I can relax and really try this on for size before having to decide. I get Acting Out of Class Pay so it really is a good situation to try out the job.

I think I'll head down to breakfast and take a shower. Maybe by then, I'll be in the mood to get some work done. I really need to get myself organized! I have my Getting Things Done and Attitude Is Everything books with me to help get me going.

Vicki- I hope you can get your work worries figured out. You'll know what's right for you.

Elizabeth- Sounds like your evening was fun.

Janet- Hooray for a romantic trip with Gary.

I've been up since about 3:30 this morning. I am having a terrible time sleeping lately. The past 5 nights or so I think I've managed about 4 hours at most.

I am finished painting and for the most part everything is put back where it belongs but my house is certainly in no shape for a party. And I have no idea when everyone is showing up. A lot of Sara's friends are helping with the food and things. So I'm not sure if they'll be before 2pm or not. I really should get moving but absolutely have no desire to get out from under my blanket and off the couch.

Tammi - good luck furniture shopping today!

Janet - I hope you and Gary have as much fun at WDW together as Bob and I do. It is very different as a couples-only destination!

If you don't like it as dark, I've been told that if you wash it with dish soap it helps take some color out. (I like it though. It's perfect for fall.)

That is a tip my hairdresser gave me too.

And Bob and I are talking about next November!

It doesn't look too purple from the pics!

Maybe I will get a shot in the sunlight today! I am glad you had a good time at the party last night. :)

Nice hair Elin.

Thanks, Stephanie! I sure wish you felt better!

I hope you feel motivated to do everything you want to get done today, Vicki. Don't worry too much about the future yet. See how you like doing the job and then give it some more thought!

I think once you get past this afternoon's shindig you will sleep better, Robyn. And I think you need to stay snuggled up on the couch a little longer! ;)

I'm glad you're getting paid appropriately, while getting to try it out -- that's really nice! All companies should be so forward thinking!

I hope you're able to be at peace instead of stressing out too early. You'll know whether it's right or not, but I can totally relate to the mixed feelings about the change!

I'm sorry you aren't sleeping. I can completely empathize, I've always had sleep troubles

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

It is a gorgeous fall day here and I will spend it in front of this window! :)
