Tia we will see you Tues night at Crystal Palace at 9. You and Terra are dressed as Minnie right?

She is supposed to be Mickey and I'm Minnie. If that is too warm, she'll either be Minnie or Sleeping Beauty.

I agree that going to the dr. leads to all sorts of trouble. BUT! I would rather talk you through the trouble than lose you. (Maybe one of these days I'll listen to myself)

It is a lot easier to be rational when it's someone else, huh? The tests are both scheduled for next Wednesday, so at least I don't have too long to think about it.

I also got a little itchy just thinking about it...more so than with lice!!

Oh yeah. I'm itching from top to bottom now. :rotfl: Thank goodness we haven't had either note so far this year!

literally!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I forgot to tell you the bright spot in my week...somewhere along the way from the last time I weighed myself I've lost 25+ lbs:goodvibes If anybody finds them DO NOT send them home:lmao:

okay,
Jeff and I will have black T's with designs and Olivia will be Ariel, Virginia will be Aurora.

Yay!!! Great job!

That was the other little thing that annoyed me yesterday. I lost 5 lbs since my doctor's visit in July (with two vacations in there, too). He said, "I see your weight is stable." Now, you know he would have made mention of it if I had gained 5 lbs. And I do realize that 5 lbs is basically stable for me, but still...

O.K. Now that bit of drama is over. Not another 5 hours that I want to relive. It took both of us off and on about 4 hours to comb through Leighanna's hair. We used a magnifying glass to check each strand. We only found about 9 or 10 nits, behind Leighanna's ear and nape of her neck.
We feel pretty confident that we got it all out. We were very thorough.
I think we stripped the color right out. She is looking very platinum blonde about now. Her poor scalp is red from all the pulling.

No offense. But I think I would rather have a prostate exam or a colonoscopy than do that again.

I don't even want to know about this!:scared1:

:sad2: no, you don't. We never had head lice... but both girls had bouts with pinworms. :scared:

I am so sorry you have to deal with this Tom (and family). And I am with Jennifer in that it is my understanding that the school is required by law to inform you of the infestation. They are not allowed to release the name of the child who "started it" but they have to tell ALL the parents so that it can be taken care of. As fare as I know the infected child may not return to school until the nits are gone.

 Mom and Dad and poor Leighanna. :grouphug:

Maybe they found their way to some of the people going to the Dinner!!!:lmao: :lmao:

Well I was wrong, we found the little nits. This is going to take forever going through each strand of hair.
I am going to go and talk to the principal and school nurse.
I am fuming!
We are not going to cut Leighanna's hair. But if we have to go through this time and time again... I just don't think I could do it.
I am taking a break from it.
Thankfully Playhouse Disney is keeping Leighanna somewhat occupied as we go through it.
But my back is already killing me.
Can I go back and start this day over, with better results?
Wah!
Enough of my venting!
Time to go back and deal with this!

I will keep you posted on Lice Watch 2008.

Susan and I were just talking about lice the other day. We have both heard you can slather your child's head with mayonaise to kill them, so maybe she needs a mayo mask on her hair for the next few days, just to be safe.
My friend who used to work with the 3 girls (the one in the sleepover story where the parents figured they could leave their kid until whenever) told me that's what Hockaday (the very exclusive private school) did when they had a lice epidemic and couldn't get it under control. They coated all the girls' heads with mayo AT SCHOOL.

well I was 7 minutes late in printing and we got A 36-38 on boarding passes.

Not bad! :thumbsup2

 Tom, I am so sorry that you and your wife and Leighanna have to go through this. So far we have made it without the pesky, little critters. (Knock wood!) I know that I wouldn't do well. When Laura was in third grade, the classes couldn't seem to get rid of them for a while. One suggestion that I thinked helped us a lot was to put the hair in a bun and coat it liberally with gel or hairspray. The lice don't like product, because it keeps them from attaching to the strands of hair. I also made her put her coat and back pack inside a plastic bag at school (as did many other parents). When she got home, I'd run the coat and the backpack through the dryer on high heat for 20 minutes.

Our school does check heads periodically and sends notes home if lice is found on anyone in the grade level. No names, of course. The other fun note to get is pinworms, but I'll leave that for another time.

I don't even want to know about this!:scared1:

I've never had lice, but I've had pinworms, compliments of DS! :scared: He was maybe 4 when that happened. DH, DS, and I all had to take these little chewable "deworming" tablets. It was delightful!

So, I packed up all my courage and actually went to my physical yesterday. I need a little more of that DDA pixiedust, because I think I'm about to waste more of my time and money (but I want it to only be a waste of time and money). The doctor said that he heard a heart murmur when I was lying down. I swear he has heard that same one before (and only in that position), but he doesn't have record of it. "In a majority of cases, this is an innocent murmur, but we need to check it out." So, I need to go have an echocardiogram. Dh thinks that we will have less to pay on this one, since the CT scan used up our deductible, but we'll still owe 20%. I have no idea how much that is going to be! :scared1: So, should I cancel or go? I also scheduled a mammogram for the same day, because I am way overdue on that. See, going to the doctor just leads to all kinds of trouble. I also have high blood pressure (several readings of 140-144/80-90) and have a prescription for that. Plus, I need to lose weight and exercise (but I already knew that). Everything looked "normal" on my exams, but it will be several days to get the results of the PAP.

What, are you going to take after my mother? My mother, who told me yesterday that the nodal extension (the cells moving beyond the lymph nodes out into the rest of her body) was caused by the BIOPSY! :headache: I think she is insane. I know she is depressed, but I think she might be crazy, too. It is an old wives tale that cancer surgery causes mets, but she seems to have taken it to a new height. I hope she doesn't tell her oncologist things like that or he will bundle her up and ship her off to a psych ward.

Really, the test might be a waste of money. But if there is a problem and it goes untreated what will the ramifications be? Things are easier to fix when you catch them early.

Please explain to me why I can't take my dog to the kennel if he has fleas, but a child with lice is permitted to attend school?
