My dd6 got a rope burn on her pelvis area from her new life jacket strap ( the one that goes through your legs) She complained about it yesterday and it was just reddish, so we made her stop using the life jacket and it went away. This morning it is a big scab. I put antiseptic cream on it but she says it still hurts and that her underwear is rubbing it. Should I just let it air out or should be cover with a band aid? If we did didn't have a family reunion ( and we are the ones bringing the tables and tent) i would stay home and let her go "commando" but that isn't an option

I would let her go commando to keep the area from getting rubbed on.

Poor baby

Do you have a pair of soft short shorts she could wear instead of underwear? Or maybe a pair of soft pajama shorts that she could wear instead of underwear? Can you go somewhere and get a pair of boy's boxers?

Poor thing! I would let her go commando as long as possible at home and when you return. No bandaid. The soft shorts would be a good option, too, but everything is probably going to rub. Naked works best, but not at a reunion. It will heal fast.....

How did she get the burn? That strap isn't meant to be all that tight.

Does she have a nice, lightweight cotton dress to wear? She could go commando under that.
