DD6- autoinflammatory and autoimmune disease- liver surgery

I hope all goes well for your little girl. Take care and hang in there. :goodvibes

We're home and tired...we were in longer than expected. There were a few 'bumps' that were a bit of a scare, but she was well taken care of. Durring the start of the surgery, the Dr.s were unplesantly surprized to find out that she was allergic to the tape they used on her eyes (to keep them closed durring surgery)...Her entire face was swelling and red with bumps. They got it under control, and went on with the surgery.

As she was being brought into the recovery area after surgery, her throat started to swell and she had to have a breathing tube put in. She was put into ICU for 3 days after surgery. They moved her into a nice room on the afternoon of the 3rd day and we were there for a few days when she got hit with a virus. She got out mid-morning of the 27th and we took the long drive home. Stopping every hour or so to help her get comfortable, settle her down and get her things she needed. It was the longest ride home ever.

Since we've been home, it's been like having a newborn all over again. Lots of small chunks of sleep, awake for a bit and back to sleep. The combination of meds she's on are making her a little on the crazy side. But, not being on them would be worse.

Her reading and 'school work' that I've been trying to keep up with have really fallen behind in Nov. We've been doing home schooling, but through her elementary school and her teacher she started out with this year has been sending home packets, books and projects for her to do- She won't be going back to school any time soon and it feels a bit odd. It's weird to have her home all day, but still bring her big sister to school.

Thanks so much for the update! I will continue to keep your entire family in my thoughts and prayers..

I'm so glad that things seem to be on the upswing now.. Hopefully by Christmas she will feel a million times better..:santa:

Don't forget to take care of yourself as well.. "Mommy" isn't much good to a sick child if mommy falls ill from exhaustion..

Hugs and continued prayers coming your way..

I'm glad she is back home. I hope that her recovery goes well. :grouphug:
