My DD will be 17 months when we hit The World in February, and I am considering getting her first haircut there. I've read previous posts about others doing the same, and I'm wondering if anyone could offer insights? Do you have to do it at BBB? Are there other "non barber shop" alternatives for children? How much would a regular ol' cut cost? Are they equipped to work with a child so young? Do we need an appointment?

I'm waiting for the 2007 Passporters to arrive and am hoping there might be some info in there, but I have found this venue to be most helpful. Thanks for any help you can send!

DS had his first haircut at the barbershop on main street at 9 months old (he's a hairy guy)...they did a great job. They put so many stickers on him he had plenty to do while they cut. We got a special set of Mickey ears and wonderful pictures. I don't recall it being too too expensive. We will always be glad we did this.

Hello! BBB is for 3 and up. I'd definitely try to get an appointment for the barber shop on Main St. in Magic Kingdom. I may have my DD-22 months hair cut there when we go. I'm not sure yet.

I had my 15 month old daughters FIRST haircut done at the Barbershop on Mainstreet a few weeks ago.

It was GREAT!!!

It is ONLY $14.00 and they are covered with stickers, you get a cute 1st Haircut Certificate and 1st Haircut set of MouseEars. Emily's were pink, I'm guessing for boy it would be blue.

Then they wrap the hair up for you and sprinkle pixie dust on it.

We went first thing in the morning and were the first customers.
I have heard that it can get pretty busy, so plan on going early.

We had the lady, she was great and sang to Emily. She also blew bubbles.
It was a wonderful experience.

Take care
Kathyn

Awesome... onlt $14 for the cut AND a certificate AND ears? No way! I'm so doing that... how special!

The boy ears were black. We went on our way out of the park for lunch/nap (about 11:30) I think there was only one person in front of us when we went, maybe a 5 minute wait. They don't take appointments (at least they didn't when we did this in April of 2005)

We had our DS's first haircut in Feb, he was 19 months. It was only 14.00 and they recieve a certificate and ears that say first haircut. They really try to amuse the kids. They gave him a ton of Mickey stickers and bubbles for me to blow. It was definately worth it. Here's a couple of picks.

The Harmony Barber Shop seems to be very popular for first hair cuts!

We did this for DD3 in September. It was an awesome experience and we have a great video. $14 is a pretty fair price for a hairct, expecially considering the extras given for a first hair cut.

Her hair was quite long and she never wanted to get it cut. DH had his hair cut at the Barber Shop back in May. As soon as we walked by it, DD remembered how they sprinked pixie dust after the haircut and asked to get her hair cut there.

We got the pink "Minnie" ears that were embroidered with "First Haircut," which DD proudly wore. (Our waitress at Tony's Town Square actually asked us what her name was, as she tried to pronounce "Firs Thair....?" as DD's name. HA! :rotfl2:

Boys received the black Mickey ears.

First come, first served only. No appoitments. The wait seems hit or miss. We went around 12:30, after checking the lines all morning and finally went when it seemed tolerable. We were wrong-- there were several "line holders" for families of 4 or more! People in front of us said they had waited over 1.5 hours and felt "committed" to waiting in line after being there so long.

When DD finally got her hair cut, it was around 2 PM and the place was deserted. One of the barbers said between 2 -3 PM was the best time to go and there's rarely long waits then. Others on the board report going there just before the parade starts and then catching the end of the parade when they're finished.

BBB does not cut hair-- just styles it along with make up application.

Search the boards for some pics-- I know there was a thread right before I went in September.

Go for it...We go DS's first haircut there this past summer. We got there first thing in the morning and there was no line. The barber was great, chatted with DS while doing his hair and then sprinkled pixie dust on his head when he was done and have him a stack of mickey stickers. He put the pony tail and some xtra pixie dust in a bag for us. Plus he found out when the Jack sparrow shows for the day were for us. It was a great experience, I'm glad we held off till then getting DS hair cut. I had planned on doing that summer before he started school anyway so the kids wouldnt think he was a girl!

We had our DD get her first haircut at Harmony on 10/17. It was great. She is really scared of strangers so I was worried she would freak, but our stylist (Mary) literally covered her in stickers...she didn't know what was happening! The price was right ($14 as the pp's said) and the perks were awesome...the certificate, ears, hair and pixie dust). She even threw some pixie dust on my DS who waited the 45 minutes with us.

Here's our pics!

We had each of our girls' hair cut for the first time there - Michael & Maria are wonderful. It was such a big celebration. It really is worth it.
