DD will be a teen in August...

My daughter will turn 13 this month and she can't wait to be a TEENAGER! Does anyone have any hints/ideas on how to make a 13th birthday extra special? We plan on having a family party with relatives, and one with just her friends. This will be the first party where she has invited boys and I'm trying to think of activities for the whole group to enjoy. We've discussed going to the movies, bowling, swimming, but nothing seems to hit the right cord. Anyone else throw a young teen party lately?

Well my DS had one in Feb. We have a finished basement. His party was a boy/girl party too. He wasnt interested in going anywhere, he just wanted to have some friends over. So while he was at his baketball game that day I secretly decorated the basement in a Polynesian theme. ( we had stayed there that Dec)

I filled sand pails with tons of candy, decorated with palm trees and other tropical designs. It was pretty neat. He was surprised and got a kick out of it. We ordered his food choice, pizza of course, had cake. they listened to music and hung out. And everyone was home bt elevenish.

DD is 14 and all the parties she has attended recently have been very informal.

Music (CD's, the kids bring their favorites)
Food (usually subs or pizza)
lots of soda & bottled water
and just place to "hang out."

Some of the parties that have been in the evening have had campfires, I don't know if that is an option for you, but the kids love them. Good luck and congratulation to your DD on becoming a teen!!!!!

No suggestions here, but congrats for DD! I remember my thirteenth birthday was a BIG DEAL to me.

BTW, good luck to you, if your DD is anything like me The early teen years for girls are rough...I feel bad for my mother!
