DD sweet 16 bday trip first timer questions

DD would like me to take her and a friend away for a long weekend for her sweet 16. I am thinking Universal would be good. DD likes thrill rides. We have been to WDW often, but never venture over to Universal because of my younger children not having enough to do there. When I brought the idea up to DD, she asked what is at universal. I realized I really know nothing about this place. I'm looking for suggestions on where to stay, what tickets to purchase, and what are the best things to do with two 16 year old girls.

It is a great place to go for a sweet 16. The hotels are within easy walking distance of the parks so it gives you a very cozy vacation.

There are the two parks, 3 deluxe hotels, one value hotel, mini golf, restaurants, clubs, movie theatre, shopping. Perfect for a long weekend.

We just returned yesterday from staying at Hard Rock Club Level with our 16 year old son for 5 nights. The hotel was wonderful - within walking distance of the parks, although we took the boat every time. We had the 3 park unlimited tickets because we were undecided about going to Wet and Wild for one day (we didn't), but I liked the unlimited option because we could come and go from the parks without having to get our hand stamped to return
