DD says it hurts to chew...opinions?

I'm debating on whether or not to take DD4 to the doctor tomorrow. Today she starting complaining that it hurts on her left side, behind her ear softof when she chews/eats food. So, we're thinking she could have an ear infection...no fever, or any other symptoms. Or...yesterday her and DD1.5 were running around or playing and they bumped into each other..DD4 ran into DD1.5's head, but DD4 hit right on the left side of her chin. I'm thinking that she has a bruise from the bump that is hurting her. DD4 also just went to the dentist 2 weeks ago and no cavities, so I dont think its her teeth. Anyone think of anything else that it could be?

Could she be getting some new molars? Six year old molars don't usually wait until the child is 6 to come in.

Is the pain behind and kind of below / at the bottom of her ear? That could be a Eustacian (sp?) Tube. Mine get a little blockage w/o infection and is uncomfortable especially when biting / chewing. Infection could develop, but I always go do MD at first sign. Mine are allergy induced. Oh, and since I don't have an infection, the MD cannot see anything wrong w/ my ear. Try warm compresses on the Eustacian Tube area. If it does have some blockage, this might help relieve some of the pressure and maybe allow it to drain.

I was going to suggest the same thing, sounds like it may be the beginning of an ear infection. My children never had fevers with them and I have double ear infection now and never had fever. You may just want to take her to the MD to check her ears. Is the nose runny alot? This is usually a sign even if it is clear.
