We are leaving on Friday for WDW -- my dd5 has had a wiggly tooth all week -- I told her to not play with it and if it fell out at WDW that Tinkerbell would be sure to tell the Tooth Fairy to pay her a visit even though we were on vacation! However, IT FELL OUT TODAY! This is my first Lost Tooth experience as a mom and seeing as though we're on our way to Disney in "three sleeps" does anyone have any cute and quick ideas of how to tie this in? I do believe I have one Disney Dollar I could include in the money the tooth fairy will leave her.... Also, what did/does everyone do with the tooth? I know some people put it under their pillow. I always put it in a glass of water at my bedside. Wierd huh? And what do you REALLY do with the tooth "AFTER" the tooth fairy takes it?

Geesh, could this week get any more emotional, my first child loses her first tooth -- a trip to WDW and the day we get home is her preschool graduation! 100% chance of precipitation (from my eyes) -- by the time next week is over!

TIA for any suggestions!

How exciting!

We have a fancy "tooth box" that we put the tooth in and then the tooth fairy leaves $1 and - even better as far as DD is concerned! - magic pixie wishing dust (glitter that I got at Wal-mart in the craft section, it's very fine). She thinks that's the best! Maybe it could be fairy dust from Tinkerbell??

DH keeps the teeth somewhere - he always does the swithces and he's afraid to throw them out for some reason (it's odd because he has no problem throwing out toys etc! )

Have fun with it!

Thanks! I'd be so nervous she'd find the tooth later on and ruin it for her! Plus, I'm so nervous about waking her up -- she shares a room with her siblings... somebody might wake up !

lol you sound like me!! That's why DH does it, I'm too nervous!! :) Post or PM me tomorrow so I know how it goes! PLEASE! I think DD is going to lose a tooth on this trip we're on (in Orlando for 3 weeks at my parents) and I'll have to make a Walmart run for pixie dust. :teeth:

I have always sprinkled Pixie Dust (glitter) on their pillows. It just blows them away-they think it's the coolest thing. Disney Dollars are a great idea and I have done that before. I have always kept their teeth in a bag in the back of my dresser, and for some reason, I have always written the dates. What I am going to do with this information (and teeth), I have NO idea
Whatever you do, don't fall asleep waiting to make the switch. You know they are up at 5:00 AM feeling under that pillow!

such a cute thread! My daddy, I mean the tooth fairy always left me a 50 cent piece and a note of praise... how I was growing up to be such a good girl and how she liked coming back to see how I'd grown...
all was ruined one morning when I hurried in to the breakfast table to show my folks the note and money and there was daddy doing his crossword puzzle with a green felt tip pen... just like the one from my tooth fairy note... still didn't tell ... later told mama...
had not thought of this in years!:goodvibes  make your memories any way you can... some day she will be grown with a 5 yr. old of her own and get to share the stories with someone and she will smile...

We have the bag of teeth in the back of our dresser drawer too! Oldest DD is almost 11 so she "knows" better but doesnt spoil it because we told her that if you stop believing, you stop receiving...

Our DS lost his second tooth while at Disney last year, he freaked out thinking the tooth fairy would not no where to find him and his lost tooth. My quick mind came up with Tinkerbell and the Tooth Fairy where cousins and Tink would take care of everything.

That night we put his tooth on top of one of those light up cubes from 50's Primetime and in the morning Matthew awoke to 5 Disney dollars under the cube.

I wrote a letter from the tooth fairy (found the idea on the web) that his tooth is now a shining star and if he looks out his window at night he will know which one it is, it is the brightest star in the sky. I printed it out on my computer on nice photo paper. LOL He is 7 now and still points out his teeth from his back window, 10 teeth later. LOL Janis

Okay, my DD6 lost a tooth at Disney last year (not her first or second, but still a big deal to her)...

Tinkerbell "filled in" for the tooth fairy and went way overboard (DH... )...I think she ended up with $10 and a tinkerbell pin for her lanyard. Oh well, they are only little once, right!?!?

On a side note...I remember when I graduated High School and was going off to college and mom and I were in her room looking through the jewelry box....yes, you know where this is going...and she handed me a ring box. I was so excited, knowing it was going to be some special ring passed down from generation to generation and YOU GUESSED IT...it was ALL of my BABY TEETH! Uh....GROSS

Anyway, I now have all of DD6's teeth in a ring box in the jewelry box

We have a toothfairy box also, but I throw the teeth out.

Have to share our first tooth story, sorry it's kind of long!
DD6 lost her first tooth at school. She brought it home in a little envelope and was showing all of us. Somehow, the tooth got wrapped up in a napkin and yep, you guessed it, DH threw it away!!! I have never seen a grown man going through garbage so crazed looking for a tooth! We didn't end up finding it, but wrote the TF a note and she came anyway. This was such a trauma for DD however, that when she lost her 2nd tooth she refused to put it under her pillow and decided to keep it. Same thing with tooth #3. Now DH and I are thinking hey great this will save us some $$, :p . About a week ago she decides to put one under her pillow, but DOESN"T TELL US!!! That was interesting to try and explain the next morning! I told her the TF must have been very busy that night (lots of kids must have lost teeth) and might not have known that she had put the tooth under her pillow because she lost it so long ago. I told her I would make sure to let the TF know to come that night but from now on she should put her tooth under the pillow the same night she loses it. She agreed. I never thought losing teeth would be such a drama! Ah, kids! :p

This is pretty funny...I just told my 3 yr old son the other day about the Tooth Fairy, and how she's related to Tinkerbell. When I said she comes in to your house at night, he said "Just like Santa!".

In the Disney Home store in DTD they had little Tooth Fairy pillows with an envelope sewn on. Maybe next time I'll get one. I never thought of what to do with the lost teeth - I'll save them in my jewlery box, I'm sure.

Slightly off topic, but my DD lost her top front tooth the other day and was all excited because it was the first one she pulled out herself. Somehow within the next 10 minutes she managed to lose the darn thing. Luckily the Tooth Fairy accepted her handwritten note explaining it all, and he (our Tooth Fairy is a guy...not that there's anything WRONG with that) left her some Disney Dollars for our upcoming trip.

Loved reading all the ideas and memories here! Well, I got dd5 a small round wooden box with a cover (from a craft store) -- and let her paint and decorate it up as her tooth fairy box. We made a big deal out of it and everyone stayed up late waiting for it to dry! Finally, we made a wish and put the tooth in the box -- on her bed but not under the pillow -- it was dry but still a bit sticky... Well, about a 1/2 hour later, baby sister (21 months) comes downstairs wide awake. I think nothing of it until I go to put her back in bed (in same room as dd5) to discover the tooth fairy box is open and overturned in the middle of the room -- no tooth to be found! I was devastated! Now, we're trying to search the entire room without waking anyone up -- b/c what if she or one of her siblings found it in the morning? NO LUCK! I guess the tooth fairy really DID take it! Well, thankfully, she ended up leaving a cute card with a computer printed picture of herself on it -- with a pink dress, just like dd5 thought she'd have! Inside the note, the tooth fairy told us to say "Hi" to her cousin Tinkerbell on our upcoming trip (and to all Tink's friends) -- (good idea guys!!!!) She got a kick out of that! And she left a 'magic' Disney Dollar and a REAL $5 -- dh thought we should have given her $10! He's got four kids -- nutcase! lol...:teeth:
Anyway, she also left some yummy tasting pixie dust (pink cookie/cake sprinkles) -- that dd just HAD to taste! And of course, she's not saddened one bit that her tooth is REALLY lost, b/c the tooth fairy took it -- as far as she's concerned! I just hope she's not mad when she gets older when she learns we didn't get to save it! Thanks for all the cute ideas! She was really excited and just loved it! She loves telling everyone about the whole ordeal!!!!

My 7 year old dd lost her latest tooth at school also. It was put in an envelope, and then into the backpack.
When we finally got home she had forgotten all about putting it under her pillow, but the tooth fairy still delivered, and just took it out of her backpack.
The next morning, there was the dollar (where she good see it - a dollar because it had caused her so much pain the day before). She got up, ran to her backpack and saw it was gone. Her comment - "How can you make a scrapbook page without the tooth? The tooth fairy took it!"
I had to tell her I would somehow get in contact with the TF to see if she could give it back - for the scrapbook!
LOL
sorry for the longish post.

For the first 10 or so teeth, I (the DH tooth fairy), would put silver dollars under her pillow.... all different types and varieties... some quite old but not expensive.

So when did my daughter loose that first tooth???? Yep, first trip to WDW. Where did she loose the tooth???? On the crowded bus going back to the resort after the fireworks at EPCOT. She also LOST the tooth on the bus! Had half the bus on their hands and knees looking for it... bus driver turned on the lights to help. But it was found!

And yes, I remembered to pack the silver dollars for the trip to WDW.

I'm on a real guilt trip now!!!!!

We have 3 kids (22, 20 and 15) and we honestly did do the tooth fairy thing with them but I'm blowed if I can remember what happened to the teeth!

I remember one time after having messed it up somehow the time before (ie forgot to take tooth/put money) both my husband and myself independently shoved some money under the pillow when we went to bed (that lucky bunny got double!) and I think that was the time we forgot to take away the tooth which involved some convoluted story the next morning ("Mummy,Daddy, I've got loadsa money and my tooth's still here!!")

We made so many variations of the Tooth Fairy's habits, to accommodate our own shortcomings. Eg you had to lose your tooth before midday or the TF had already set off and you would get your treat the next night. That gave us a day's grace when we forgot!

I also remember our youngest, when she was an old pro about losing her teeth and we did a deal where we just handed over the dosh because she knew the score and it got us off the hook if we forgot (AGAIN)

Now I sound dreadfully heartless - but I bet nobody else has Fairy Bluebell presents left on their tree on Boxing Day - don't ask!!

Our daughter lost a tooth at WDW in January...she was soooo excited...said "The Tooth Fairy and Tinkerbell will both come tonight, I bet!!" Sure enough they did: and left 5 disney dollars under her pillow. It was just in the nick of time, too...she had spent all of the money we had alloted for her. Normally, we don't give that much money for a tooth, but got caught up in the magic. The Tooth Fairy always leaves a note, as well, noting how well she is brushing her teeth. Can't wait for her little sister to begin losing them (and neither can she!) It was definitely special to have this happen at WDW!!
