I am so sad...today is DD first day at kindergarten. We had to put her on the bus at 6:47 and I am just sitting here staring at the walls. I don't know what my baby is doing, who she's making friends with, what she's eating. Is it to early for a drink?

(((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))) for you....I would be going through the same thing but my DD misses the cut off date so we will be waiting a whole year!....I know I'll be doing the exact same thing!

{{{hugs}}} I've been there....the first day is rough. They seem so small to just stick on a bus....but she'll do just fine & be very proud of herself when she gets home.....my youngest is in 2nd grade & I still hate letting him go. {{{hugs}}}

{{hugs}} She'll have lots of fun stories to tell you when she gets home.:)

When my dd went to kindergarten, she and I both were so excited.:) She makes friends pretty easily, and she loves to learn. I didn't worry about her too much. She made so many friends and had such a fun time.:) When my ds (my youngest) started kindergarten, I sniffled all the way to his classroom. He told me to go home and leave him alone before we got to his classroom door.:o He told me he was a big boy and he'd be fine. I went out to the car and bawled my eyes out.:o He did great on his first day and made several friends.:) I finally stopped crying when I dropped him off sometime during the 2nd week of school.:o

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} I know how hard it is, but when she gets off that bus and talks about the fun she has and the friends she meets, it will get a little easier with each day. Keep very busy so you have a big smile on your face when she comes home, so she will not be spending her day worrying about you and how un happy you are. I gets easier with each year!

She got on the bus at 6:47?! Wow!! That's early!!

I remember when my oldest started school. I cried!! I still had 2 kids home at the time, but my first "baby" wasn't there! The hardest thing for me was knowing there was now a part of his life I wasn't there for. I'm happy to report...WE BOTH SURVIVED! :bounce:

She will meet new kids, have new experiences and come home to let mom know what her day was like. You'll be surprised how kids will fit right in at school with kids their own age. mom, take a deep breath and now that she will be home before you know it. :D

DS was 3yrs, 3mos the first time he got on a school bus. It was one of the mini-buses taking him to preschool. I followed the bus to the school and saw him get off and walk in the school!

Cant believe school started already for your DD! We have another 4wks before we start

I remember that day last year with my youngest.

I does get easier and they are excited. Its hard on the parents, because they aren't with us anymore. For me,it was easier to find a part time job to fill the time. Now, I am in college and a part time job, that fills my time up much more.

647, dang thats early!!! I hope she can keep it up. And you are in the South, is this about when school starts?

I'm wondering about crowds for my Disney trip in 2 weeks!

I have 3 weeks and 2 days before I 'lose it'. Our plan is to let DD get on the bus, but then to drive to the school to see her get off the bus. I wish DH would drive her to school since she is home, but I am sure she will do fine....I am the one who won't do so fine.

DD#2 starts preschool this month. That scares me even more since she has a temper and isn't into the education arena as much as DD#1 is.

{{{{HUGS}}}} Ginger. I remember sending my son off to kindergarten, I cried the first week he was away. It was a lot harder on me than it was on him, he met new kids, had a great teacher and did lots of fun things. Just think how much fun it will be when she gets home today, she will have so much to share with you.

OK, I'm the weird one here....I couldn't wait! she needed it more than I did though.
My dd was getting bored out of her mind and she was driving me insane, she was going to pre-school but all the kids were younger and it was only three days a week, not enough!
This year she's starting first grade and she was already asking me yesterday when she was going back to school, she misses her classmates. I can't wait!

gshoemate:

I feel for you. I still get sad and worried about my kids on their first day of school every September, and my kids are 16 and 11! There has never been a problem on the first day, they are usually excited about their new classes, teachers, etc., but I just miss them after having them around all summer. After a couple of days I start feeling better.

I understand the feeling. When my DD started Kindergarten I bawled like a baby. I couldn't wait to pick her up and hear all about it.

I do notice sometimes I'll sit in work and wonder what kind of day she's having and she's 11 now. It's like my Mom told me when I first had her you'll always worry about them until the day you die.

It will get easier,
Lisa

:(

Well we both survived. I got nothing done today, just sat here and worried. And the first thing she said when she got off the bus was "we didn't learn anything today". She had fun though. She didn't have to much to say, I think it was a day of going over all the rules and such so they didn't do to much. She is having an easier time with it then I am. I know it's just one step in parenting, I don't know what I am going to do when the time comes and she asks for the keys to the car......I think for now I will just enjoy kindergarten. Thanks for all the hugs and support, they helped throughout the day!

LOL she sounds like my youngest DD.........anytime I asked her what she done at school...her reply was...'Nothing'
If I asked if it was good......reply was 'OK'
talk about getting blood out of a stone
got no information out of her at all.
Still hasnt changed much and she is 13 now

Just some belated {{HUGS}} gshoemate!

I'll be doing this in 3 weeks myself so, thanks for posting about your 'experience'!
