DD #1 will be 10 when we go I was planning on booking CRT for maybe Christmas breakfast or for dinner one night. When talking to the kids about where they want to eat she said she really did not want to eat there and could careless about it. DD #3 who will be 8 wants to go and of course DS who will be 9 says NO WAY. Now I am kinda sad that she doesn't want to go. Weird part is she wants to do Akershurs again, but not for the princesses. Part of me thinks she is trying to be a big girl. I think she is using the yummy bagels and lox at AKershurs as an excuse to see the princesses and the other part thinks she has really outgrown it.

Everyone keeps saying its something you have to do just once. So I wanted to do it before no one was interested in princesses anymore and now it seems as though I am too late already. :sad1: When did my babies grow up.

I would go because DD8 wants to go and because you do. You will do many things that DS and DD10 want to do so it is more then fair to do something for DD8. And I am sure once you get there everyone will enjoy it. You can play up how cool it is to eat in the castle and down play the princess part.

I would go. I bet she changes her mind when she gets there. It's hard to watch them grow up so fast isn't it?

If you tell her you want to make it special for your DD 8 and get her into the "planning mode" i.e. help her with the autograph book and make sure each princess signs it for her, she'll get into it.

If your DD8 wants to go, then you should do it. My DS endured many princess meals for his little sister, and he really didn't mind at all. As I tell them, part of being a family is doing things for each other. I try to have each of the kids pick something they want to do each trip (within reason, of course). It's cool to just have the experience of eating in the castle, so I'm sure your other two will enjoy it more than they think. Have fun!

Thanks I was leaning towards just doing it but I don't want 2 of the 3 kids miserable. I think I might just let them each pick their own special meal and no one can complain about the other ones choice.

It sucks watching them grow up so fast. I would have been so excited at 10 to go see the princesses and even with all my monitoring of what they watch, read, and listen to and making sure everything is age appropriate she is just past it all already. I swear she was born a teenager though. Thankfully when we are in WDW I do see a little of the little girl she is come out.

I hear you - my DD will be 10 in 2 weeks. :scared:

I would suggest having each child pick what "their" one choice would be for ADRs. For your youngest, CRT. For your eldest, Akersus. And for your DS ... whatever he would like (maybe Sci-Fi). That way when you have that meal, you don't have to feel like your forcing your other 2, you're just observing the one child's special choice.

Like a previous poster said, I do think your DD10 will be different at WDW. She's stuck in the spot where she wants to be grown up and thinks princesses MAY be babyish. In the moment she will be different.

And, when she finally realizes that it's OK to love Disney no matter what her age -then she can join the rank of the rest of us who never grow up! ;)

Whoops ... only saw your post after mine... looks like we're on the same page!

With me as her mother I am surprised she doesn't know that already LOL I am a WDW fanatic. Have been my entire life. We still have a little bit before I have to make ADRs it just kinda shocked me that she really had zero interest. I will work on her I think she may like the menu at dinner so that might help my cause LOL.

Normally I'd say that she's part of the family, she needs to suck it up for her sister. We all get stuck doing stuff we don't want to do sometimes. However, if it was my family in the same situation, I may let this one slide. CRT is $47 - $57 per person for anyone 10 and over.

In our financial situation, I would see spending that kind of money for someone who doesn't even want to be there a bit of a risk. Another option might be a lazy morning for your DH, DS and DD at the hotel, while you and DD go to CRT for a special breakfast. Maybe you could even finish early and hit Fantasyland while your DH, DD and DS catch up with you in the parks. Everyone would have what they wanted, and you'd have an awesome memory with your 8 year old before she outgrows the magic.

Like I said, normally I'd be all about taking one for the team. It's just that I'd see this as an easy way to carve $120 out of my trip budget and make everyone happy.

Just another POV, YMMV.

We didn't do CRT in 2008 becuase DD was only 2 and wasn't into princesses and DS didn't care and I didn't think DH would want BUT I wanted to go. I should have done it! We did do it last year though.

This is YOUR vacation too!!! Go for it! :goodvibes

This trip I am toying with CRT. Last trip we were on the DDP and I paid OOP for it. DH, myself, DS 9 at the time and DD 3 at the time. This trip DS is a Disney adult. He's not really into the food here and could care less about the princesses so using two credits for him OR paying OOP isn't what I want to do. ACK!! So I am most likely just going to do a special breakfast just DD and I and pay OOP for it while DH and DS sleep in or ride rides!

:sad1: When did my babies grow up.

Sunrise, Sunset.

When I took my girlfriend (who was 21 at the time, I was 24) she had no interest in the princesses either, but I felt since it was her first trip we should just get the experience of eating in the castle. One she was actually in the castle she couldn't wait to see the princesses. There are few truths in this world, but one of them is that there is no such thing as too old for princesses. They can try to run and hide from it and act all tough, but in the end, most girls have a place in their hearts for princesses. I bet your son will even be a little..... Bashful.

IMO, make the ADR, your family wont regret it, no matter what they say now.

I would talk to her about making the sacrifice "for her sister" but I can almost promise you she will love it too. Not everybody gets to eat in Cinderella's castle. My dds are 11 and 6, the youngest is DIEING to see the princesses, but the oldest not so much, but she go for her baby sister. They grow up so fast!

I would definitely do the castle. She is willing to do Akershus again so she can't be that against princesses :).

Let her sister pick CRT and she and her brother can each pick a restaurant and they each have to suck it up with the other's choice. Of course you can't exempt the boy and make the older girl go to CRT - everyone would have to go under this scenario.

Or, you can take the 8 year old to CRT and Dad can take brother and sister to a different restaurant. That way you get out of paying large amounts of cash to watch the older kids sulk.

Vicki you should go to CRT!!! Ive never been but I'm waiting for MNSHHP time to go this year...they'll like it at the end of the day...you can be a princess too...just say hey mommy wants to try this one time...and they squawk so what..its your money!! lol...go for it girl!

and you should also wear a TIARA when you go..

Have to agree with a previous poster that normally I would say that she needs to suck it up for her sister. But for your family, CRT is going to cost around $275-300 with the tip! And the food is meh at BEST (we've had breakfast and dinner there). The princesses are SUPER rushed at the castle.

You pay for the experience of eating in the castle. Not the food/minimally the character interaction. I would definitely skip it if I was in your position.

A much better option for your family might be 1900 Park Fare for dinner. 1) easier to get into 2) cheaper 3) better characters 4) the Tremaines help young men to accept a princess meal ;)

Ah heck, just do it...daughter number 1 and son will just have to take one for the team. How many times can you say you GOT the reservation and get to eat there. I'm taking my daughters 21 and 16 :laughing:lol...ok so I'm using them as my excuse to eat in the castle.

Well thanks everyone. I talked to DH earlier about it and I talked to DD again about it. DH said do it and the other 2 will deal with. He said the same thing that once she is there she will be into it. I figure we have to do it once and its better to do it this year so we only have to pay for one of the kids as adults. I am just going to make sure we do it before Christmas eve so I can use the TIW card to save some $$. So to make it up to the other 2 that will be DD #2s choice and the other 2 get to pick a special meal for themselves.

THanks again

LOL DH and I are going next month by ourselves for our anniversary and I actually made a ADR for us. I thought it would be cool to eat there and see the show but now I hear that it will be princesses at night and thinking that the little bit of romance will be gone so I am going to cancel that one once its confirmed. LOL I am such a big kid.

This is what we are doing. Dd10 is still very much into the princesses, and I want to take my new little one (who will be 1) as well. And darn it, I want to go! We ate there back in 2006 during our 1st trip (the kids were 9 and 6) and ds12 was miserable. So I made a "secret" adr for just me and my 2 girls for 8:10 one morning. My sister, her son, and ds12 will get a sleep in morning, and meet up with us later. Me, dd10, and dd1 will eat with the princesses, then head to Pixie Hollow! I'm on the dining plan, but payed OOP for this meal, so the hit to my pocket book wasn't so bad!
