Out township has free flu shots for tomorrow which will save me $30 for a copay at the doctors but DD has a stuffy nose. Do I get her flu shot or not. I think it's okay as long as they don't have afever? What would you do?

As a nurse who actually worked a flu clinic this year I can tell you that mild illness is fine. If she develops a fever or becomes more sick I would say no. My girls both have sniffles and got their flu shots today at the minute clinic.

I usually get my shot at work ( I'm a nurse). I had a cold last year and no fever and they made me wait until I no longer had a cold.

As long as she doesn't have a serious illness she can get the vaccine even if she has a cold or a fever.

I had a horrible bout of bronchitis two years ago, and the doctor approved me to have the shot while I was at the office for that (I'm one of those people who doesn't go to the doctor until I have both feet in the grave practically). I'm a teacher though, so the odds of me picking it up at work greatly outweighed any potential issues that could stem from the shot+illness combination.

My son just got his Thurs. and he had a cold--they told me as long as he didn't have a fever he was ok for the vaccine.

My DD8 had her flu shot last week...she had the sniffles and was sneezing. The doctor said as long as she did not have a fever or a sore throat it was okay to get the shot. My doctor did say that the flu mist can cause you to have a runny nose and a post-nasal drip for a couple of days after the application.....

My son just got over walking pneumonia (never had a fever). She wants him to wait 2 weeks before getting his vacination. If you get the nasal mist it can give you a cold because it is the live virus. Shot doesn't have the same effect.
