Haven't posted in a while -- budget is crunched, so I am depressed that WDW is a loooong way away for us.
But just wanted to share this. I used to post a lot, on here, due to my dd (who has an unidentified syndrome that causes many difficulties for her). She also Irish Dances, and still does well at it. I recognize that she WILL hit a wall. At some point, technical correctness will not be enough -- she will need an athleticism that is just not possible in her body. But for now, she LOVES the stage. To her, competing is another form of performing...and she does love medals. She never wins a First Place, but usually gets some 3rds and 4ths. That's a great showing, among 25-30 girls her age who are easily a head taller than her. (She is in 4th grade but wears size 6/6x clothes). We are ever so proud. She has such fun, and works so diligently!
Here's a picture of her in a recent competition, in hard shoes. She got a medal in one dance that day (a soft-shoe dance -- the light jig). Her mouth opens quite often when she dances, because she is a mouth-breather (large tonsils and adenoids). But she also smiles a LOT.
