We will be arriving on 2/17. DD Birthday is 2/18. She will be 8. Last year we were in the car all day on her birthday so i wanted to do something nice this year.
We have already done both Princess meals, so I was thinking-not that. We have also had dinner at OHANA w/ the family for her BD, so not that.

I was thinking of horseback riding-anyone have experiences with that?

I know this is nuts-when I was young we got a cake and a "pin-the tail on the donkey "game! :rolleyes2

For our granddaughter's 8th birthday in August, we took her to the spa for the "My First" package. It consisted of a 25 minute (each) manicure, pedicure and facial. She absolutely loved it. I think any 8YO girl would be thrilled to get a manicure and a pedicure.

We did it at the Grand Floridian, although it's available at SSR too. I see that they have since added a 25 minute "My First Massage" to the menu. It looks like it's ala carte, so you could do just one or two of the treatments.

It's not cheap; the facial and massage are $70, the pedicure is $40 and the manicure is $35. But we're grandparents, so we don't always worry about that. :goodvibes

I just checked SSR's brochure, and they have a "My First Spa Experience" package. It's the 25 minute manicure, pedicure, facial and massage for $185. That's $30 less than the ala carte prices. GF's spa doesn't appear to have a package like this.

We try to do this once a trip whether it's someone's birthday or not. We eat a big lunch (preferably healthy) and then skip dinner and go to Beaches and Cream for the kitchen sink. The kids think it's hysterical that we're eating ice cream for dinner and we get to look like cool parents! :thumbsup2 Have fun!!

Beaches and Cream might have to be done anyway! Birthday or not!

The Spa idea is an option. She has been asking for a pedicure. Can you imagine? I got my first pedi at 40 -and that was 5 months ago! My second pedi was 2 wks ago at SSR-it was a very nice experience overall.
Where is the Spa menu listed?

Just saw this posted on another thread. If you go to Beaches and Cream, afterward you can go to the "Pick a Pearl" booth at Y&BC. She can pick an oyster and have it made into jewelry. Looks like some prices are reasonable - I just did a search because my DD 7 would love this.

Your comment about the pedicure made me laugh. We just went on a Disney Cruise and our DD said "How old were you guys when you went on your first cruise?" Well let's think, how old were we two days ago when we got on this ship?!? :rolleyes2
