This is my first post and I am so excited about our upcoming trip to WDW. My DD is going to celebrate her 4th bday. I know about the bday button at MK. I booked PS for Garden Grill with Mickey. Should we order a cake for the Garden Grill, (4 adults, 2 children)?

DD has told everyone at preschool that Mickey is planning her BDay. So any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :bday:

I would suggest getting the cake - or talk with Disney dining. Maybe they could bring out a special cupcake or something!

Its not my DDs birthday on our upcoming trip, but I'm planning some surprises for her! Each night, after she goes to sleep - I will put out a goody bag, and sprinkle just a little Mickey confetti!!! When we first check in, I'll put out her bag with some pins for trading! I have some Disney dollars, a Christmas Mickey that plays music, etc. I'm bringing some Disney party bags from home along with the tissue paper and I'll have it hidden in my suitcase. Then every morning of the trip, she'll find a surprise from Mickey and the Gang!!

Have a great trip!

If you don't order a cake - most places have B-day cupcakes. My DD turned 3 on our trip last year - she told everyone and rec'd at least 3 cupcakes - at the Princess bfast, at Chef Mickeys and at Chrystal Palace. The server would bring them over and usually sprinkle Pixie dust on the table and my daughter. She loved it. She told everyone for the entire lenght of our trip that it was her birthday - and her real birthday was the day we left!

We just celebrated DD's 5th birthday at WDW. We arrived early for the shows and the CM's ushered us to the VIP seating. At the B&B show in MGM, Return2Zero called her to the stage and serenaded her. It was a memorable experience! Worth the extra wait before the show!!

DD received free cupcakes everywhere we went. It seemed the less we said, the more we received. We have a stack of WDW Birthday cards from Princesses, other characters and CM's.

Have fun with your celebration!

Get a bday button at every park. There are at least 3, possibly 4 different designs out there

1 - MK and MGM
2 - Epcot
3 - AK
4 - Downtown Disney (not sure if there is one)

CMs really do look for the buttons, and yes, you will get singled out if you're wearing one.

My DS is turning 5 on the day we arrive at Disney (we plan to surprise him that morning...not sure how yet, but we hope we can keep it a surprise) Anyways I was wondering about the Birthday buttons. Can you get them before your trip? And do you just wear them on your actual birthday or can you wear them all week? We probably won't be going to a park that day, but do plan on going to Chef Mickeys, so I am wondering if we can get a button without going to a park. Also do they do anything special in your hotel room if you are staying on site on their birthday (ie do they have birthday balloons or anything) Thanks

Thank you for all the suggestions. I did not know that the other parks had the b-day buttons too. I will definitely get one at Epcot since we are going there first for our PS and then heading over to MK. Now she can have the button from the start. Yeah!:cheer2:

Momofbuzzfan -

We have surprised kids each trip to Disney. This time I told them that I had to go visit some friends (they were sad), and since I could not find a babysitter they had to come with me (they were happy). We drove to the airport and when they got out of the car they were confused. They asked, "are we really going to see your friends?" I said, "Yes! Mickey, Minnie, Goofy..." They screamed - "We're going to Disney World!!" It was the perfect reaction - plus they behaved marvelously the entire trip!

Have a great time!!

I don't know about the hotels, but I imagine that if you told the check in clerk that your son was celebrating a birthday, they might be able to come up with a balloon or 2.

As far as getting the buttons ahead of time, send me a pm, I might be able to help you out a little.

I don't see any problem with your son wearing the button for the whole week of the trip, as a birthday button USUALLY won't get you any special perks, just special attention.

No real suggestions here, for I don't know what Disney would do for ya, but I do like the ideas of trying to get a cake! That would be really cool if Micky himself, could bring it out!:earseek:

When I use to work there, there use to be a phone extention to get goofy to sing happy birthday to you on the phone, im unsure what the extention is or if it still exists, at check in you may want to ask the host/hostesses about it with your son out of ear shot of course. if they still do it im sure your son would go nuts if goofy called him in your room to sing to him. My roommates did that to me on my 21st birthday and it was so funny... hope thats helpful and have fun!
