Hi guys,

My dd has been having nightmares regularly now for the last 3 weeks but this week she has had a nightmare at least once a night. She wakes absolutly terrified and is really hard to settle again.
I resorted to putting her into our bed last night but I dont really want to do this as we have only just recently broken the cycle of having her in our bed everynight and that was a battle of wills I really dont want to repeat !!

We have put some fairy lights in her room so its not dark but its not vey bright either. I dont know what else I can do!!

Any advice on how to break the cycle of nightmares ?? or is it just a phase ??
Non of my boys ever did this and I could count on one hand the amount of nightmares they have ever had!!!

Thanks x

is there anything in the room that she finds scary? My DD8 has a radio on all night as this helps to get her off to sleep, she also has a light on its a low wattage bulb, but it's light enough for her to see. When she had a bad spell we brought a dream catcher and hung it near her bed. I know it does nothing but its the thought that it does that counts :thumbsup2

hope you get it sorted soon:hug:

Has she seen a particular movie which has scared her? (Disney can be really scary - my DS(11) still doesn't like Snow White!! Or Monsters Inc?) or has some dear child at nursery been telling her something? If you can find its linked to something particular then you can talk to her about it and reassure her that way.

Otherwise how about finding some sort of talisman that you can tell her will fight the bad dream and blow it away - you can get litle guardian angel figures in Hawkin's Bazaar, they're only a few quid, and you could say you've got that to keep the bad dreams away.

Having just read the last day of your trippie Louise, could it be anything to do with the flight home?
Or maybe she got used to sleeping with the boys at the villa and it's taking her a little while to get back in to routine especially as she'd been going into your bed .

Not sure anything is bothering her if Im honest. she is more than happy to go to bed and is such a gem in the day! She is the kind of kid that if something was bothering her she would tell us x Thanks for the advice on the dolls im going to grab some anyway as they sound fab for when she does have a worry!!

No Keira thought the flight home was fab !!
I do think she did prefer the sleeping with the boys than on her own but we have been home now for nearly a month. If it is teh fact that she wants to share im sure one of my boys would jump at the chance to swap !! :lmao:
Thanks for the thought I think when your tired you struggle to see thinngs logically x xx

Louise, your right when we're tired we find things much harder to cope with and we never know whats going through kids minds.

She will probable stop having the nightmares just as quickly as they came.

In the meantime, the only thing I can suggest is to stick to a routine that comfort her before bed.....ie, Bath, hot drink and bedtime story

sending you a big hug:hug: and hope things get better
