OK, so this is our first "major" excursion with the kids. I am getting quite antsy and just about jumping out of my skin with excitement and anxiety. I don't want to have to carry everything AND the kitchen sink with us, but I do want to be prepared enough so we don't have to run back to our resort unless there is a major issue. So, for those of you that went to WDW with kids around those ages, what did you find yourself needing the most (other than the obvious diapers, wipes) and what did you take into the parks that you never used? Any suggestions would be helpful! As you can tell, I'm hitting that point where almost everything is done and now I'm finding new stuff to worry about before the trip!

I have been taking my DS since he was 10 mos old. he is now 4 yrs old. I put in the diaper bag;
a few juice boxes, crackers, cookies and lollipops. This way I always have something on hand.
I would also take a small toy that they like to keep them occupied when needed.
If you going when it is hot, take a change of clothes or a bathing suit and sandals, there are a few spots where they can get wet.
I learned the hard way, when my daughter was 4 she got wet at Ariel's Grotto and she stayed wet with wet sneakers all day, Thankfully it was warm out, and it took days for the sneakers to dry all the way.
So when I went with my son, I carried a bathing suit and water shoes for him, so he can play in the fountains.
Also if it is hot I took a hand towel from the room and wet it through out the day to wipe the kids face and hair when it was getting too hot out. It really helped when we were standing in lines.

The only thing I did that was overboard and I never needed was carrying to much medince with me into the parks. Lesson learned, just carry something for a fever and something for a headache for the adults. I think I took the whole medince cabinet. :rotfl2:

And if you ever need anything for the baby or sick child go to the baby Changing Stations, there is one in every park, they have anything you might need, Medince, diapers, microwave, rocking chairs, TV and changing tables.

My son got sick all over himself and I took him there to change him, they had a nice size sink I sat him in it and washed him down and bought him medince and calmed him down so I could get back to the hotel.

It can get crazy thinking what you'll need but after you do it, you'll know what you will need the next day and what you won't.

Is your 1yo going to be napping the the stroller? If so, I would look at Wal-Mart or online for a clip-on stroller fan. I always worried my little one would bake while sleeping in the stroller and our little fan (pack extra batteries) was life saver. I think I paid $4.96 at Wal-Mart.

I just took our regular diaper bag (backpack) and was fine. I did add disposable sippy cups, which were great.

My younger DD is finally out of diapers (yeah!), but we would take:

diapers, wipes, Balmex
change of clothes (including socks)
a small snack or two (goldfish, Cheerios)
sippy cup with water (or bottle of water)
sunscreen
band-aids for scraped knees (blisters, etc)
individually packaged hand wipes for sticky hands (baby wipes work too)
autograph book and pen
camera

We would sometimes take toys, bubbles, etc. for waiting, but we didn't use them. There was always too much to look at!

snacks
sunscreen
juice
small first aid kit
diapers wipes + change of clothing
extra ziplock bags! We used these for alot of things! To keep pressed pennies in. Wet clothes. Popcorn!

Amy

Hats
sunscreen
Tylenol (children and adult)
bandaids
ziploc bag (fill with ice and little water and wash cloth)
mister fan
obviously diapers and wipes
change of clothes(just in case)
couple snacks
I always put my girls in sandels and put a ton of sunscreen on their feet..keeps them cooler than socks and sneakers..don't know if that is an option(if they get wet they dry super fast too). Also a hand towel to put over the back of the stroller helps to keep the kids cooler too.
We have a backpack type diaper bag which makes it easier to carry everything in. Good luck and have a great trip
