Help! DH and I are taking our DD6 and DD14 on their first cruise (DH's too!) in December on the Magic. My DD14 is somewhat shy (although a huge NHL fan) and I am concerned she will not enjoy herself. Any suggestions? She does not approach others on her own..... :(

Being bored on the Disney Magic is like not being able to find anything to eat at a buffet! :)

Even if she's not outgoing, there is alot to do, whether in the lab, or going to a movie, going swimming, etc. I wouldn't worry!
She might need a push now and then but I can't imagine her not having a ball once she gets involved!!

ENJOY!!!!!!!

You must make sure she absolutely attends the Teen 411 meeting the first night in Common Grounds. She will meet all the teens onboard, plus the counselors who are very good at pairing up and introducting teens to each other. This is where most of the teen "friendships" happen. All the teens are invited and there will be an invitation in your stateroom. Even if she is reluctant to go...make her...it will just be harder to make friends later in the cruise.

My DD14 LOVES THE CRUISE ( she still keeps in touch with the friends she has made on our 6 DCL cruises). She even met one for lunch the other day at our local mall....small world!!!!

Thanks for the feedback! I will make sure she goes to the 411 meeting. I also talked my husband into the spa treatment for couples - surriel (spelling?). He said he feels somewhat uncomfortable about it-he is shy too-but I told him there was nothing to worry about!;) :smooth:

Have you husband read this sural review from wdwinfo.com [or hide the review from him and just enjoy reading it yourself if you are worried it will scare him further away!]

My DD19 has been on the Magic three times - the first being when she was 15 years old. She LOVES it! Feel free to have your daughter email her if you'd like. Shelby's email is spoiledspecial@hotmail.com

Most important thing is to go EARLY to the teen get together. My son arrived as it started on one cruise, saw all the teens staring at each other, and staring at him at the door.. and he would not go in!! Ouch he met no friends on that cruise.

On the disney cruise last fall, he went early, it was easier to walk into the room with so few people there. He told us later that he felt so comfortable, he was introducing himself to other kids as they arrived. He made alot of friends, and keeps asking when we can go on disney again.

Thanks wovenwonder! I your report and emailed it to my husband at work! Should help him pass the time today....;) :p I will tell DD14 about your daughter's email, but, she will probably be too shy to write. :( I will try though.....

WOW - I just read that review!

Sounds too good to be true!

I am DEFINITELY signing up for that one -

I didn't even know about it! Thanks for posting that!
