Hello everyone!

My name is Nikole, and I will be applying for the DCP for Spring 2016. I am so excited for the opportunity to apply, and I am spending part of my summer preparing for the application process.

Right now I am trying to decide on my top three roles. I know that attractions is my top choice. My other top choices are merchandise, PhotoPass photographer, and floral. Does anyone have experience working in these roles?

Hi! I'm also applying for DCP 2016! That's the way I'm spending my summer too haha.
I don't really have any experience/have heard anything very specific about those roles, but from the descriptions given for the role, it sounds like much less guest interaction with floral as opposed to the others. As for the other two I would say it comes down to if you want to be snapping photos all day or selling/stocking/merch stuff. Where ever you feel you can make the most magic for guests are the ones I would go with!

i absolutely loved it! initially when i applied, floral wasn't even an option yet. i had actually been accepted for 'children's activities' and received a phone call a few weeks later from HR asking if i would like to change my role to floral because i seemed like a qualified candidate (which made no sense to me - i graduated with a degree in elementary education haha). i was a little hesitant at first because my first role fit my interests but i ultimately chose to go floral since it was new and sounded really different!

there are only ten floral CPs (i'm pretty sure that's still true) so it's a very small role and almost each CP did something different. i personally was an in-room celebrations hostess which meant that i went into guests' hotel rooms while they were out (with their permission of course) and set up small surprise parties - it. was. the. most. incredible. job. ever.
other jobs that floral CPs fulfill are:

• set and strike which means that you help to set up and tear down events all across properties (weddings, conferences, etc.)
• dock which means that you'll help to unload and load shipment trucks that come into the building and organize them within our warehouse
• personalization which includes learning how to use the embroidery machines and stitch onto different textiles like ears, tote bags, towels, etc.
• basketeering which means you'll learn how to build gift baskets and other platters that guests buy
• pulling which are the people that walk through the warehouse and collect the items that the basketeers will need
• driving which means that you'll drive a company van around property and make floral and basket deliveries to the parks, resorts, etc.

you'll have a bit of input regarding the job you want but our jobs as CPs are on an as-needed basis so while you might want to do set and strike, there may be openings in dock that management needs fulfilled.

i could keep talking on and on about this role - there is so much information and really no resources - but i don't want to overwhelm you! let me know if there is anything i can answer for you!

I plan on applying too. I'm 23 and all my work experience has been in sales and as a mechanic. My top two choices will probably be concierge or life guard

Detail-oriented is most definitely a perfect quality for this role - I am literally the definition of a perfectionist which was exactly what I needed to be to do my job everyday.

My costume was really simple - I loved it as far as 'good' Disney costumes go . I wore a light blue button down with either khaki shorts or pants, white socks, white sneakers, a belt, and then an optional navy blue cardigan. I literally LOVED that cardigan, I miss it so much.

The lack of guest interaction will definitely depend on your personality; some days I loved it because I could do my job with little to no distractions and just kind of 'do me' whereas others days I really longed for some conservations or magical moments with guests. Going to the resorts each day is nice though because you have the opportunity to strike up convos in the elevators or offer to take photos, small interactions like that as you're walking by to go to a room. Some Floral roles have more guest interaction and some have absolutely none.

Hey!

I did the CP in the Fall of 2013 and I'll be applying for my second go-around for the Spring of 2016.

I did Merchandise at Backlands (Tatooine, Muppets, Streets of America) at Hollywood Studios on my last program if anyone has any questions. I didn't have any retail experience when I applied, but I found the job to be pretty easy, entertaining, and fun. I'll be applying for Photopass, Front Desk, and Attractions as my top 3 this time around. I wanted Photopass my last time around as that's my major and I had a ton of experience but the role is really limited. Attractions and Merchandise are big roles, so you'll have a higher chance at those. Two of my friends were just accepted for attractions for this Fall.

I did my ICP in merch at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and absolutely loved it. Since I was a merch CM and not a hair fgit, my roles were a little different than what you would normally get there. We did registers, stocking, super greeting, pixie dusting and helped get the boutique ready each day for the fgits. The great part was I could pick up shifts everywhere (although no one can pick up your shifts, which sucks, unless they are from another BBB location.)

I will be in fsfb when I come back in November for my cultural rep program at Canada pavilion! Cant wait

Hey. I know attractions is a harder one to get into. It's important to be open to all/most roles. And think about your experience and passion for certain areas. They do take this into account. I wanted to be a hopper and had really sound reasons why I would enjoy it and why I would be the best at it. And I got accepted for it in 6 days. If you have merch experience that's one of the easier ones to get into. AND you can do merch anywhere once trained. So picking up extra hours is fairly easy. Photo pass- they ask if you have experience with high quality cameras. I don't know anyone who got that role without experience with a top end camera. Floral is a newer role. I don't know about it since my program was in fall 2011. Hope that helps! I'm applying again for my second program. Best of luck! You're going to love it when you get in. It's truly magical.

Which role? The DCP is very different for international applicants. We don't really have as much of a choice in our roles....we are offered a much smaller selection and most of us end up in merch, qsfb or attractions. My interview was a really casual conversation, we talked about princesses and loving magic kingdom, just different personality traits and stuff I guess. The boutique was awesome - I loved it and still keep in touch with some girls I worked with. I cant speak for hair FGITs though since that wasn't my role.

As for Cultural Rep, you have to be international to do it and the interview process is similar to ICP, although this one focuses a little more on your work experience. This is a lot harder to get into IMO and a lot of people get wait listed. If you want a more in depth explanation of either process shoot me a message!
