DCP Attractions Questions?

Hey there!

I'm in the DCP for Spring '13 and I'm in Attractions. My cousin did this a year ago and has been giving me some great advice, but I figure it never hurts to have more! I'm TERRIFIED I'm going to be driving something (like in Kilimanjaro Safaris), and that just makes me nervous. I'm not good with that kind of stuff.

However, I know I am good at immersing a guest in a world apart from their own. I have been in over 40 plays and musicals and I know I could be really good at playing some sort of a character to get the guests into the setting and spirit of a specific attraction. For example, the interactive nature of Enchanted Tales with Belle is something I know I could do, and do very well.

My cousin told me that I have a legitimate concern about where they place me (like if I were uncomfortable driving such a large vehicle), I could talk/email people to get it switched. Is that accurate? I know she did that, but I wonder if it would work for me. Also, Are there any attractions that CPs aren't allowed to work on? Would they hire any CPs for New Fantasyland?

Thanks for your input :)

The likelihood of being placed at the safari or any other location that would require actual driving is very slim. Most attractions are "how many in your party? go to number X".

You will not be informed of your location until you get there. If you discover that you are uncomfortable with something required of your location, you would need to discuss this with your trainer. Case in point, my neighbor was going to be trained at Space Mountain and discovered that she was terrified of heights during training. She couldn't handle the evacuation procedures. It was all cool and they worked with her on that and she was trained in other areas.

I haven't been to the completely opened Fantasyland area, but I was there when the Dumbo circus area was soft opened. There were CP's there.

As others have said, if you cannot complete the functions of the job they will transfer you to another area or another role completely. Just be honest with your trainer if you feel like it is something you can't do and speak with management. They will want you to at least try.

When I worked Merch there was a girl who was switched from safari because she had trouble "docking" the truck. Another girl was switched from Kali River Rapids because she had vertigo from walking on the spinning platform 8 hours a day. They moved her to Expedition Everest.
