Well I booked a cruise for us and DD has a nut allergy. We have done WDW successfully, but I feel there is less info about DCL. FWIW we are doing the California Coast so we will be stopping in US ports so I can always buy food, but would rather not pay for food if I don't have to. :rotfl2:

Can anyone confirm for me the brands of breakfast cereal DCL uses - is it bulk or in those little boxes?

How about brand of ketchup? DD "needs" ketchup and I will BYO if needed, but thought I'd ask. We typically use Heinz.

How about desserts....will anything be safe?

Any advice for cruising w/ a food allergy is appreciated. I'm a little worried about being at sea and on a boat and not knowing about food choices!

I have read that DD should pre-order meals the dinner before w/ the wait staff. Not sure she will like deciding 24 hours before what she wants to eat.

TIA!

My DD 9 has a nut allergy and it was never a problem. Just let your server know and she will be fine. Lots of nut-free options all over the ship no need to bring your own food. Definitely have an epi-pen and benadryl just in case. But it was never a problem for us.

Had a client call who just came back from the Dream Bahamas cruise, son has severe nut allergies among other foods. Allergies were noted on the DCL reservation, and I was told DCL worked very well with the meals, buffets, etc. They had been to WDW before, but had not done the cruise so were a little apprehensive too. The parents did speak to the maitre'd and to their waiter as well has having the allergies noted on the original cruise reservation. Mom did tell me that having the same waiter follow your party to the different restaurants was helpful as he knew their preferences after the first night.

As far as certain brands, even if they do use them be aware that brands could change due to suppliers, availability, etc. If a certain brand is a must I'd advise taking some of your own as well as alerting DCL in writing on their special needs form so they can advise the procurement dept. for your sailing.
