Hi there,

I have two questions I am hoping fellow Dis'ers can help with!

1) I am wondering what time we could expect to be in WDW if we take the Disney transfers from the port to WDW. I am not sure yet where we will stay, but likely either Contemporary or Beach Club. We will have main dining, so will have early breakfast.

2) How does luggage work? Do you still get them from the terminal and take them out to the bus? And then store them with the hotel since we won't be able to check in until later?

Thanks :)

We are always main dining and are usually finished with early breakfast before 8 am. However, as I recall, the bus didn't leave the port to go back to WDW until around 9 am and we arrived at our resort around 10:30.

Yes and yes

Thanks :)

You can always check-in and store your luggage if the room is not ready. When you do online check-in, you can put in your estimated arrival time and there is a box to check if you want early arrival to supersede any room requests. (Now, if you are DVC, I don't know that that box means anything, but you can a,ways store your luggage with bell services.)

Your WDW arrival will depend on when you leave the ship (regular vs. late dining). In January, we were late dining, so later to get off the ship. I believe we got to our resort (Wilderness Lodge) between 10-10:30am. You will need to collect your luggage as normal and take it to the bus, they don't automatically send it to the resort for you.

1) The buses for the resorts start filling as soon as people start leaving the ships. Each bus may stop at up to 3 resorts. When a bus is full, it leaves. You don't know if your resort will be the last stop or the first. The actual trip to WDW is about an hour. It could be an hour from ship to resort or a couple of hours.

2) Yes, you claim your bags, take them through customs, and hand them off to the bus driver. Once at your resort, you again claim your bags and hand them off to the bell services for storage until your room is ready. You can go ahead and check in, but you may not be able to actually access your room at that time. GENERALLY, they will notify you (via text) when your room is ready. But not always.

Even if you do late dining, you can always have breakfast at Cabanas and leave at the time you want.

Do they give you a bus number then that organizes the buses by the different WDW resorts it will stop at?

So they don't make the buses to WDW stay until 9am anymore? Been a few years since we did the bus and I hated early seating breakfast and an hour wait for the bus to leave.

Sorry, you're correct. They started delaying the first bus until 9:00 in the last year. Prior to that, it was kinda hit or miss how soon the busses would fill and depart.

I believe part of the reason for delaying the start time had to do with trying to fill a bus with only one or two resort stops. Don't know how well that's working.
