1. Do I need a hotel or airfare to get transferred after the Cruise? If I don't does that mean I can't get transferred before the cruise too?

2. If I book a room after the Cruise, can I leave my car there while I'm gone? What if I switch resorts after the Cruise?

Booked a cruise next year, around the same time we're planning on moving to orlando, so trying to figure out the logistics of it

Historically:
1. To purchase a transfer from port to airport, you only need to have a flight (you supply the flight info when doing check in). If you want a transfer from airport to port, you can purchase that, also, with same info .

You can't purchase transfers from port to a WDW resort, unless you have a reservation at the resort.

2. Do you want to drive to a resort, leave your car, and then transfer to the port (without staying precruise at the resort)? I doubt it. I know you can leave your car (or used to be able to) between cruises, if you had both a pre and post cruise stay. Remember it costs to park at the resorts. It might make more monetary sense to drive to the port and park.

There are hotels that you can park and cruise from. None of them are Disney resort hotels.

I know you can have transfers to and/or from Disney World resorts but I’m not sure of the logistics. I know people who have done it, but I never have. Same with Orlando airport hotels. Someone with more experience might be able to answer that better.

When I was on the Wonder, we stayed at Raddison in PC. You can book a package that allows you a one night stay, but you can leave your car at the hotel. You can either take an Uber/taxi to the port or the hotel’s provided transportation. A lot of hotels in areas close to cruise ports do this.

1. You do need a WDW resort reservation to use DCL transfers from/to the WDW resorts. A flight is not required for transfers from/to MCO.

2. Assuming you are asking about a WDW resort -- that used to be a "maybe, if WDW will allow but you won't know until you check-in" answer, however WDW resorts now charge for overnight parking so probably not the best option. There are Port Canaveral area hotels that offer "park & cruise" packages that allow you to leave a vehicle parked at the hotel.

If you have moved to Orlando by then I suggest parking at the Disney terminal at Port Canaveral.
It’s so convenient. When you arrive you pull up and drop your luggage off to the porters. Then pull into the garage. The parking is covered.
When the cruise is over you can make your own schedule and not have to rely on the bus. You can get up early and make rope drop at one of the parks or not rush right off and have breakfast on the ship.

This is a picture of the parking at Port Canaveral.
***They did some updates of the parking area during the covid shutdown so it may look a little different
The terminal is on the left the parking garage on the right

Thanks for the replies everyone! I should've mentioned I'm a dvc member so as long as I'm staying on points parking is free. I'm just not sure if it's free during a cruise if I'm also staying on points after

It is not free while you are not staying at the resort.

If you’ll have a car while at WDW, it’s probably easiest to just drive to the port, and then drive back afterwards. I think it’s about an hour long drive, if that

Anyone know what the max height is for the parking garage at port Canaveral? Is there parking outside of the garage for taller vehicles?

Here's a shot of the port.
Terminal on left, parking structure on right. There's parking in the loop area and on the right of the structure, for oversized vehicles.
