Have searched the boardsfor this info, but mostly what's posted is rental car vs. transfer and transportation including wdw. My question is this: should we do the busses or a towncar from the airport-7 day cruise only? The price is the same $49 x 4= $196 for transfers. Town car is $170 but with tips comes to about the same ($200+-).
So, with the cost being equal-what are the pros/cons of each. I originally thought it was the busses that got your luggage from the airport right to the ship, but now I'm reading that you get the luggage tags that direct your bags form the airport to the ship no matter how YOU get to the ship. I would imagine town car gives you a bit more control. Also, do you have to wait a long time if your flight gets to the airport around 10 a.m. for the busses to fill up? Opinions/advice greatly appreciated....

We've done both.

The best thing about the bus is that they will take care of your luggage. If you are going on the cruise from a specified WDW, you will put out your luggage and you won't see it until it is in your room. Of course no hassle with driving and directions. The video is nice on the way.

I you booked the land and sea together, you shouldn't have to check in at the terminal if coming from the resort.
There are only certain resorts that have buses departing to the terminal.

However, I have to say that I really prefer the towncar.

1) With the buses, you don't get to pick your pick up time if you are coming from a resort. They pick up between 11-12:30. Sometimes your bus will go to another resort to pick up and sometimes the bus fills up and you have to wait for another. We didn't get to the terminal until about 1:30. If you are going for ressies, you might miss out.

2) If going from the airport, you have to wait until the bus fills up.
Same thing if you are going back.

3) With a towncar, you decide when you want to travel. You are the only ones so there is no waiting around for a bus to fill or being passed by because one is full.

Some people don't care what time they arrive at the terminal. Personally, for me the earlier the better!!!. This last time, we started boarding around 11:40am and we were pretty close to the beginning of the line.

I am a towncar fan too. We've used the buses but prefer Happy Limo for several reasons, most of which the previous poster covered. I want to leave at the time I want to and not worry about getting to the port late. I also don't like the whole "cattle call" thing. My husband and I have a talent for sitting in front of and/or behind "sugar kids." Last time we took the bus, the kids in front of us played with the seat recline lever for the whole trip. Makes a towncar look much more appealing!

Depending on the age of the other two in your party, you could be pretty tight in a towncar. We had a party of 4, with one needing a carseat. With all of our bags for a lengthy trip, we were advised by every company we talked to that a car would be a VERY tight squeeze. Used that as an excuse to splurge on a limo for that one leg and then did a van after that since we had 9 in our party to WDW.

Barb, your comment about the kids on the bus brought back a very special moment on our bus trip.

The little girl in the next seat across the aisle threw up. Yes, this was just lovely. Of course her mom did what all good parents do and let her throw up in her (mom's) hands!!! I believe it was all that bouncing up and down and the pretzels and cheese snack(s).

yes, definitely a strong vote for the towncars!!!
