Okay, let's talk about the cruise show. Pete saying how impressed he is and how fantastic DCL has been. The only real criticism was DCL not reimbursing insurance (and I appreciate Sean bringing that up.)
I wish someone at Dis/Dreams would say, this 90 day refund thing is stupid crazy. It keeps getting brushed over as insignificant.
These rolling cancellations are probably the best way, but I feel like Disney does deserve a little heat. The Hawaii cruises got beyond ridiculous before they called it.
I think the show has been giving DCL a lot of kudos for the 125% credit. I see it as the guest deserving the kudos! They are loaning Disney significant amounts of money for up to 18 months before cruising from their original PIF. If Disney simply gave them an equal booking in the future, people would say, "well great! But I will hold on to my money thank you and give it back to you at the new PIF." The extra OBB credit or room upgrades in my mind is a fair exchange for extending Disney a loan at 0% interest. These guests are being generous and loyal to Disney! They deserve the credit for bailing out DCL.
There are some guests now in difficult situations for July/August cruises where Disney MAY sail, but they probably can't because of medically compromised family members or economic reasons and have to make difficult choices as they pass into increasing penalty phases for cancellations. I wish the show rather then making it sound like the Oprah show "you get an upgrade, you get an upgrade" could have brought light to those situations.
The DCL show could really use a Skierpete to give some of this perspective coming from the boards and from the customer base. The show was good but felt focused on the rosy parts.
As someone looking to travel DCL in the future, I am watching and listening to their customers. It really matters to me what their experiences are and tells me what kind of service I can expect from DCL.
I see Disney just as doing okay/good and about what everyone else is doing. I wouldn’t say fantastic.
