DCL Question

every once in awhile we see something negative posted and it gets you thinking

The same thing happens to me. Sometimes I get sucked in by the negative comments, but I think it's important to weigh them against the positive ones. No experience is ever going to be perfect.

We had some very minor disappointments on our cruise last month, but they were completely overwhelmed by all the wonderful experiences we had. I included the negatives in my trip report because they mostly resulted from our expectations being too high.

I really believe so much depends on your attitude. I think it was Dr. Phil I heard say that most stress in life results from reality not living up to your expectations.

So come on and enlighten me all you adults who cruise without kids- WHAT IS IT?

We cruised with kids, but I think a big plus DCL provides is so many adults only areas ( Palo restaurant, Quiet Cove pool, Serenity Bay beach.) Our stateroom was forward, so every time I took the elevator to deck 9, I walked past the adult pool. It always seemed so peaceful and relaxing.:D

Classy and family are two words which describe DCL

First, the ship looks and feels like an upscale hotel. I've cruised on other lines and seen pictures of even more ships and am largely unimpressed with the decor. So many are glitzy or just plain ugly. The cabins can look like dorm rooms. You don't get that on DCL. It's more of a refined elegance. Total class act.

Of even mor importance to me are the activities on board. I have a 7 year old DS. There are times when my DH and I want to be alone. My son is thrilled to go to the kid's clubs. We are thrilled to go to an adult only environment. It's a win-win.

However, when we want to do things together as a family, we have a lot to choose from. Even better is the fact that the shows and entertainment are done on two levels. There's an adult level done with innuendo and a wink (which kids don't pick -up on), and a purely fun children's level. We can sit there as a family and both enjoy the show. (Kind of the way Disney does it's movies). If I took my son to some of the shows on other cruise lines he'd be bored to death.

My son said it was the best family vacation we've ever had. My husband and I think it was the most romantic trip we've taken since our honeymoon. Who could ask for anything more?

We chose Disney even though we don't have kids.

we chose a time when most kids would hopefully be back at school, but we know we'll have areas we can go to anyway.

Also, whatever Disney does, they do it right! rooms, entertainment etc....

Someone also mentioned the non-party atmosphere. That was one of my priorities. DH and I like to relax and have a few, but that is not the goal of the trip, but I have somewhere to go when I want to

Food wasn't a huge priority. DCL may not have 'the best' food as far as cruises go, but I am pretty sure it is going to be pretty yummy. I liked the food at the resorts, I imagine I will like it on the cruise as well.

We felt it was a pretty good value overall. We are cruising in 15 days, and I am the most excited as I have been sice I believed in Santa Clause, and Christmas was only 15 days away.

I.

CANNOT.

WAIT!!!!!!!
