DCL Online CheckIn passport photos

Hi! I'm planning a trip that includes my niece and nephew, ages 7 and 10. This is the first time I'mm be cruising with kids. This may be kind of a dump question but....The kids have passport cards but not passports. It is ok to simply upload the pics of the passport cards? I was initially assuming this would be ok, since the DCL FAQs say that passport cards are acceptable for boarding the ship. But I'm concerned about assuming anything. Thanks in advance for helping out this nervous auntie.

Passport cards are fine for boarding the ship. If there is an emergency however and you need to fly out of one of the islands that aren’t part of the US you need a passport book for air travel.
