DCL OnBoard Placeholder booking question

I had a TA convert a placeholder into a cheap 3 night dummy cruise the day before general public opening day prices. The explanation I got was that she would be able to convert that dummy to the actual cruise we wanted online. If it had remained a placeholder, she would need to wait on hole with DCL on a busy day to do the conversion.

This I understand because I am thinking of not booking placeholders any more and going back to dummy cruise dates so that changes can be done online (also if placeholders are put in my sister's name, I can't get them on my reservation list). But I don't think TAs should be doing it as a general policy and never without telling the client what is happening. Otherwise you end up in a situation like HappilyEverAfter is in. It could be an expensive error if DCL does sail to Hawaii in fall 2018.

Yes that was the only issue, I had no idea the placeholder was changed to a dummy cruise or why. Anyway... water under the bridge now ;)
I just wanted to say that I am pretty sure I could not make changes to the dummy cruise online without talking to the TA anyway... I remember there were no options to do anything. The cruise was showing but I couldn't modify it.
I could be wrong though, I can't remember the specifics 100%.
All I know is... that I know for next time :duck:

Edited to add: I bet it's change to a dummy cruise so that the TA can modify the cruise online.. instead of having to call DCL. Which makes sense I guess.

The TA asked me first if she could convert to the dummy cruise and explained the reason. So it was not a surprise to me. We had a another placeholder that was for the same cruise that was not converted to a dummy one, since we are platinum and she was booking for us in the day before general availability. That had to be done on the phone so there was no reason to change.

Seems like DCL should allow the placeholders to be modified online without requiring a phone call.
