I just received a survey to fill out from Disney Cruise Line. They were asking about how we would like a Mediterranean DCL Cruise. The itinerary would be:

Sunday Barcelona, Spain
Monday Cannes, France
Tuesday Livorno (Florence), Italy
Wednesday Civitavecchia (Rome)
Thursday Naples, Italy
Friday At Sea
Saturday Palma de Mallorca, Spain
Sunday Barcelona, Spain

Cruise Fare per Person Inside Outside Verandah
(Disney Vacation Points
1st/2nd person 218 242 331
3rd/4th person 173 173 173
3rd/4th person 3-12 141 141 141
Cash$
1st/2nd person $1759 $2089 $2859
3rd/4th person $1319 $1319 $1319
3rd/4th person 3-12 $1099 $1099 $1099

The survey kind of hints that this may be offered in 2004. Sounds kind of nice to me....

Where would the DCL ship leave from?

The ship will leave from Barcelona. The survey said they were planning on relocating one of the DCL boats for the Summer of '04.

We received this email survey, too. The proposed cruise is very interesting! If it actually happens, I'd like to see some kind of package discount offered by Disney on airfare to Barcelona. The survey offered estimated airfare costs from various cities, and it seemed high to me for two roundtrip, let alone people takng families. Let's see what happens!

Interesting. From a quick comparison of point costs to cash costs, it looks like they are valuing the points at $7.60 - $8.50 / point, which is better than the value for the Feb '03 DVC member cruise. It's also lots higher than they are willing to insure the points for - they give you $5 / point on insurance.

Wow...why couldn't it be next year? I just booked my family on a RT Barcelona cruise for next June!

It would be great to get a Disney Cruise without the long and costly flight to Orlando! I live in England, so Barcalona is a short flight away......but I'd still want to go to WDW! Is this a definite?

Count me in!! I would do it in a heartbeat!! :)

That sounds like a great cruise and decent value for the points. I hope it comes to fruition.

I did a similar cruise last year with Raddisson Seven Seas on the Navigator,

Civitavechhia (Rome)
Livorno (Florence) toured SanGimignano and a 1/2 day tour of a winery in Tuscany (AWESOME)
Then went on to Nice, toured Eze, Monaco (Changing of the Guard)and Monte Carlo (Le Casino)
Then 1 day at sea
Finally Barcelona (Olympic Village and Church of the Sacred Family which has been under construction...not renovation, for over 100 years).

It was an award trip from work, which made that much better, but it was absolutely incredible. I'm glad to hear that DCL is contemplating adding something like that...I may go back. The trip I did was just one of those things that I wouldn' t have come up with on my own as a "I have to do this" it was a very pleasant experience.

Anyone know if this fare is for the cruise only, or is airfare from the US included?

The survey about this potential cruise had separate pricing examples. One price chart for roundtrip airfare from different cities to Barcelona, and another for points and cash cost of cruise. So, based on that, I would conclude the prices listed do not include airfare.

This would be very tempting!! I was planning to book a 7 day DCL cruise for March 2004, but I think I would do this instead!

Is it intended to run all year round or just in the Spring and Summer months? What months were the points examples you gave for? Was going to book 4 day cruise, now might hang on and see if this becomes a reality!

Airfare is not included...... Disney estimated airfare would be $900-$1,000..... Beth
