"DCL Klondike Kruisers" - August 23, 2011 PART 2

Okay, just talk to my sister and she was questioning my 12:00 flight out of Vancouver on Tuesday...you guys are the pros, am I just not thinking about everything that's done in the morning before you get off and get to the airport...Help...:scared1:

Well we survived our 22 mile bike a thon. Did it in a little less than 2 hours. That was a good time for us. The bridges at both ends were killers!!!

You guys are ready for some serious touring now :) Congrats on the awesome accomplishment.

I have no idea what to expect and getting excited. DH is saying he needs a new lens for his camera. He will have one suitcase just for his camera. :lmao:

So glad to see some Kentuckians on the cruise! That's where I was born and raised!

I posted these on our Facebook page, but in case any of you aren't on there, these were taken in 2002 at glaciers near Anchorage and Seward. While I scanned these in and tried to reduce the noise, I did not tinker with the color. The blue in the glacier is actually what you see!

My parents have a flight out about that time. If you are one of the first people off the ship then I wiould think you would be fine. We like to eat breakfast and postpone getting off the ship as long as possible. We are flying out the next morning.

I have a 2pm flight out of Vancouver and have DCL transfers booked. I did read that getting through customs before you board your flight sometimes can be time consuming. I think as long as you're off pretty early (like before 8) you'll be fine!!!!

How long does it take to get through customs? We have a 6:30 AM flight o Wed morning and wondered how early we will have to get there.:confused3

No sure why it would be a problem. Most everyone is off by 9am.

No idea, I've just read reports on other boards ( I don't remember exactly) that customs can get pretty backed up.

Thanks, but I don't know about that!! DH wants to do the White Pass Railroad and the bike ride down.

Our 1st and only DCL cruise was 4 years ago. Fast forward 4 years and now we have DS 13 (will be 14 in November) and DD11 (12 in December). Which club can they go to? I am totally confused. On the DCL website for DS it says Edge is ages 11-13, and Vibe is 13-17, but in a different spot on the same page it says 14-17 (so is the Vibe 13+ or 14+?). Can he choose either or just one club? For DD, it says Edge 11-13 or Oceaneer Lab which is 3-12. Can she choose either club?:confused3

Also, I remember when we went 4 years ago we were asked about our DS having signout privileges. I assume that age 13, he can come and go as he pleases....not that I am super comfortable with that. Any help would be appreciated! THANKS fellow cruisers!

My daughter will be 8 this cruise, was 7 last year for the Med. Thanks to these boards, the wonderful friends we cruised with last year are the same wonderful friends we're cruising with again. DD is the youngest of the group, and one day we did an excursion on our own and knew that one set of friends was going to take her to a movie as they were going to be back sooner than we were. We enabled her wristband to have sign-out privileges in anticipation of that, but did not tell her. After that, we'd gotten the "feel" of how things went and decided to see how DD did with the sign-in/sign-out privileges. We knew that she'd be with one of the older kids, and were good with that. Our stipulation was that we were paged EVERY TIME she left the club. Well, after 2-3 times of it not happening, we took the privileges away (some of the problem was cast-member induced, not necessarily DD).

We've spent the past few months talking about responsibility, and now with the wave phones and plans to equip her with a watch (crucial, in my opinion) and a phone belt-holder, we're going to try it again. I am a type A- (DH is an A+) personality and am detail-oriented to the nth degree. I really think that prepping her ahead of time with our expectations is going to help. Yes, she's 8, but she's in the company of older kids and knows what we expect and knows what will happen if the expectations are not met. With a watch and defined check-in times, I think this will work. If not, well......
But...you know your kids. What is the worst possible scenario they could get themselves into? :confused3

HTH,
k
