DCL discounts with DVC?

I read somewhere that it might be possible to get a discount on cruises with Disney Cruise Line if you are a DVC member.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
Or perhaps, someone might know where to direct me to find out?
Thanks so much! :thanks:

Nope. No DCL discounts. DCL actually doesn't offer many discounts at all.

You can use your points to book a DCL cruise, or you can use a combination of points and cash. To go the points/cash route you have to book the first adult into the cabin for points. Then each additional passenger can be paid for with points or cash as you see fit. Each person must be paid for with all-points or all-cash.

The cash price is a pre-set price that has been agreed to by DVC and DCL. The DCL cash rate (if you were to book directly through them) starts out lower and then goes up as the ship fills. The DVC cash rate is usually higher than the early-booking DCL rate but less than the later-booking rate. But remember...to book a cruise through DVC you will need to pay for at least the first adult with points.

How funny you ask - I was on the phone with MS for a while yesterday getting all this down. Technically, no DVC discount. However -
As long as one person, any person, including a child (I was specific about this - she even helped me find a cruise I could book with my leftover points, and it was for DS9) is booked on points, all the others in that cabin get the DVC rate. The rate, on the face of it, is a good savings. I was looking for summer '09. After I had the info. from MS, I went to the DCL site, and compared apples to apples. Savings, cash DVC price to cash DCL price, including R/T transfers, trip insurance, govt. taxes & fees, were OK ($200 - $1000 for 3 of us) but I didn't jump back on the phone to book one, either. The DVC contracted prices will not change, but the DCL prices will. IF the price goes down, they will contact you and give you the credit, but doesn't usually go that way. Only variable would be the fuel surcharges. That doesn't take into account the person booked on points (which saves your cash), but I thought cash total to cash total would give the best comparison. Personally, I'm going to wait and try to get one from a discount cruise website.

Thanks so much for your help!
I booked with DCL and after the fact, thought I had read somewhere that if you were a DVC member - possible DCL discounts were available.
I think I will keep what I have booked!
Thanks again!
