DCL cancell cruise due to charter???

Hi Barron,

C'mon over to Cruise Meets thread for 9/24/05 and you can see the history of this "rumor." We don't really know too much other than (1) some passengers were contacted by their travel agents who told them about the potential charter (2) the cruise date was then removed from the DCL website (3) Reservations were no longer taken for the date but folks were put on the wait list and the latest (4) There are no more names being added to the wait list. When my travel agent called DCL, they said the charter is a "rumor" but would tell her nothing to explain the above facts.

Like a lot of other people this possible rumor can put a lot of stress on people, I called again and was assured that there was no charter for 09-24
and very rarely do they charter 7 day most all the time its 3 and 4 day cruises, again I thank you for the info.

DCL will ALWAYS deny any change in plans until it has been officially announced. We here at the DIS usually know at least a few days before DCL makes any offical announce and allows it's reps to acknowledge any change. Take the October 1st and October 8th cruises for instance. We knew here on the DIS for a few days before DCL announced those cruises cancelled due to dry dock. All Seasons Travel had it posted on their website for a couple of days before DCL would publicly acknowledge it, and TA were already contacting their clients to make changes. Don't take anything DCL says as golden, because usually the phone reps are the last to know things. Since DCL has taken this cruise off booking status so far in advance, and TA's are reporting something brewing, I'd definately place money that this cruise is going to be canceled due to a private charter. It definately follows DCL's MO for these type of cancellations.

Well I could not chance it so I transfered to the 4 day 3day cruise same week
kept my 200$ credit but had to pay a little more.

Not sure why you thought you couldn't chance it. If there is indeed a charter, DCL will contact those involved and will do their best to make things right and cover any additional expenses involved. They don't just cancel the reservations and ignore their customers.

I have to put my vacation time in by Jan 1st sure Disney will work with you but I could not work with them, I would have to wait another year but it was easy, I just turned it into a 4 day with the 3 day cruise same week. Worked out great for me, besides Ive done 7 day 3 day and 4day cruises several times but never a back to back 4& 3 cant wait to try it.

BTW, the company that bought out the whole ship was NASCAR.

I believe it was actually the Indy Racing League or IRL. They had their end of season banquet and award's ceremony on the cruise. I remember seeing pictures of it on Speed Channel. Nascar's season run's from the first week of February until the last week of November.
