DCL Cabin Gifts - can someone explain ?

We went on our first ever 4 Night Wonder cruise in February this year.

On arrival in our cabin there was a DCL gift/photo box containing a DCL photo frame on our bed, with a card & our cabin number on it. Could someone please confirm whether this is a 'standard' DCL practice ?

We were not CC members and we had a cat9 cabin.

I never gave it much thought until after the cruise, because I thought my other half had ordered it from DCL for me (well a gal can dream !).
However, it has since emerged that he did not .... and and now I am curious to know if it was some kind of mistake, or just a nice DCL gesture. :confused3

If you booked through a travel agent, they might have sent it. Was there not a signature on the card?

If you didn't order it, and no one else did (family, friends) and not your travel agent, then it was a mistake.

Second time (and more) cruisers are "Castaway Club" members, and they get a gift in the room, but the card says what it's for, and it isn't usually the photo box. Usually it's a beach towel and lately it's been a beach bag.

We booked through Dreamsunlimited

- I wish I could find the card but I can't...I think it just had it the DCL motif, with something like 'enjoy your trip' printed on it ? Nothing very specific as I remember . :confused3

No other family members could have sent it - they had no details of the gift service or the cruise.

Yes, usually is from DU. Does not always happen, but it is a nice gesture indeed. :woohoo:

I used a different TA and rec'd the same thing. It was very special and unexpected!

Thanks for your replies - mystery solved then !

And thank you DU ! - WOW ...this company just gets better and better !!!!

No prizes for guessing who will be getting my next booking :goodvibes (and next time I'll read my gift correspondence a bit more carefully ! )

It was from Dreams but the card didn't say that on our May 27th cruise (which we booked through Dreams). I think that is the gift that DCL gives TA's once they book a certain number of cabins on a given cruise. Nice gesture.

We booked our first DCL through a different TA (can't post the name, they'll 'x' it out anyway) ... we received a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in our stateroom when we got to Cozumel. Other families that we were travelling with and who booked through the same TA got the the same treatment.

Our destinations were changed due to a hurricane .... that might have been why they sent the gift, but it was very nice for them to do that!! :smokin:

Our TA had the crackers and cheese platter along with a bottle of wine in our cabin and it was a lovely surprise. It was my first cruise, although we had booked other vacations with the same TA previously. It was nice because I had been debating having the cheese and cracker platter and I decided not to order it myself, so seeing it there added a special touch. It certainly makes people feel like their business is appreciated when gestures like this happen. :goodvibes

Was it All Seas Travel? That was a really nice thing to do.

Wow those were all nice gestures! :goodvibes Maybe I should start booking through a different TA?! :confused3 :rotfl2:

It is nice to have a surprise waiting in your room. Our TA sent a bottle of wine for us on our first cruise and we were so excited!!

Wow how wonderful............... Im not going to tell Dh incase we dont get anything, as he would be disappointed. However seeing we booked with Dreams unlimited, Sue Ellen, im feeling we might get lucky!

how cool............... thats so magical ! :sunny:

A gift and towel animals in the room, i would surely cry!

We used Sue Ellen and DU and did not have anything sent to our cabin. Not to pooh-pooh on those that did receive something, just didn't want everyone who booked through them to think everyone gets something. It is always a nice surprise though when i happens Im sure.

Yes it was. It was the 9/17 Western turned Mexican Special Cruise. :thumbsup2

We went to Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Costa Maya.

They are allowed to be posted on the boards now. ;)

Are all TA names allowed to be posted or just certain ones? :confused3 I'm only asking because I tried to post my TAs name and it came out with ***********.

We used All Seas last year, we got the memory box from them, it was very unexpected, a lovely suprise, they are brilliant (John) and we have used them again for October

You Are Right piglet33!
