It looks like all the Alaska cruises has been removed from DCL site. Expected given that Canada made the recent announcement about not allowing cruise ships for a year. I am glad Disney didn’t wait too long to remove the cruises and hopefully will officially cancel soon.

Yeah, I saw that this morning. I was checking the Alaskan Cruises yesterday when the notice came out and just the Vancouver/Seattle 2 days were showing up and I thought it was just a glitch. No, it's for real.

The second half of that is the key - how long will they wait to cancel existing reservations. We're booked on the May 24th cruise, so I want to rebook!

I wonder too... there are so many cruises that are going to be cancelled maybe they'll sit tight until they put out the next release in the hopes less people will ask for a refund?

I suspect that will be the case.
(They are never in a hurry to cancel anyway.)

I'd be 100% OK with not getting a refund, as long as they transfer my money AND my discounts to the next cruise I book. That will actually sail. Before the end of 2025... :-D
The big concern a lot of Holland America passengers are expressing today is that their Future Cruise Credit expires. It has been and will continue to be extended, but only as long as they aren't operating cruises. Many of those folks are concerned that once the cruise lines start operating, with new restrictions like those shared by Carnival yesterday, passengers with Future Cruise Credit will have to decide between cruising under those restrictions (many of which they don't like) or losing their money. I wonder if DCL will handle it differently, but I doubt it.

Did the Alaska cruises get officially canceled today? Should be any day, right?

I actually looked at other lines 2022 itineraires this weekend and figured if they let us still use the placeholder discount we used for our Alaska we would do a different cruise on Disney plus Alaska on a different line. Alas though I'm struggling with doing this because I had my heart set on DCL Alaska but worried that my discount won't be extended to the summer 2022

I love their math:
This means that Disney Cruise Line will not be able to offer an Alaskan sailing itinerary until May 2022 at the earliest, marking three years without visiting Alaska. Disney last sailed to Alaska in 2019, due to the canceled 2020 season.

DCL cruised Alaska last in 2019. 2020 and now 2021 are cancelled. If cruising returns in 2022, that's 2 years that DCL didn't visit Alaska.

eventually the US will simply lose the cruise industry - hopefully some country somewhere decides to let these ships into port and we can all fly there for departure. I can see Canada not allowign portage but simply sailing through their waters??

They probably don't want the issue of a ship passing through their waters having an emergency and needing to port in Canada.

Doubtful, but Mexico would be willing. Of course, your recourse when things go wrong would be gone. I doubt these current cruise lines would even operate from Mexico under their current brands, just to legally separate themselves from the consequences of things going wrong.

Still, they wouldn't be able to go to Alaska or the Canadian Maritimes if the US and Canada, respectively, weren't satisfied. What would be gained is simply a gateway to Caribbean and Central American cruises without any of the protections that cruise passengers have been used to. Sit back and watch the fireworks, because they're going to come.

Alaska is on my bucket list. I know Disney likes going to Alaska so it’s another big hit. I’m guessing instead the Wonder will go to Hawaii or Mexico instead? Or just stay in the Atlantic. I’m not sure if they want any West coast cruises if it’s not Alaska. I don’t think the Mexico cruises are one of the more popular trips

Wouldn't the Hawaii trips need to leave/arrive in Vancouver? Or else it would be a cruise that didn't visit any foreign ports, which is not allowed...

You could start in LA or SD, go to Ensenada and then head to Hawaii and then back to LA/SD.
