This is the most difficult part of our trip report to write. I didn’t keep any notes from it. We woke up early and did a little last minute packing with our carry ons and bags. We talked to our Stateroom Host Don Friday night about possibly leaving our bags in the room while we went to breakfast. He told me I was on vacation and shouldn’t be worrying about dealing with the bags and the kids. As long as they weren’t on the bed it wouldn’t affect him. I thanked him and told him that we didn’t want to inconvenience him because I knew it was going to be a very busy morning for him. He told me the only thing that inconveniences him is a privacy sign.

Without the added challenge of a stroller loaded down with bags we headed up to Topsiders to meet our tablemates Mary, Brian, Conner, and Devon. It was a somber morning for all of us. We were heading up to Jacksonville to my BIL’s wedding that afternoon and they were going to spend the day at the Hyatt waiting for their flight. Linda stopped to say goodbye. They were heading to WDW for the day before returning home the next morning.

I wasn’t very hungry but the kids both were. They didn’t care for the donuts or pastries that were offered on that morning so I ran down to Animator’s Palate to ask Rudy if he could find some pancakes for them. He disappeared into the kitchen while Bayoki tried to get me to sit for a cup of coffee. Rudy was back within a minute with a covered plate full of pancakes and rolled silverware. I gave them both a hug and thanked them once again for taking care of us so well, then returned to Topsiders. I got more than a few looks when I uncovered the dish at the table and served the kids.

I think that we all stalled as long as possible. We really enjoyed meeting Mary & Brian and the kids on this trip. They made dinner fun and interesting every evening. The kids hit it off right away as well which resulted in a more relaxed dining experience for all of us. We finally said our final goodbyes and headed back to room 7010 to pick up our bags and say farewell to Don for the last time. We thanked him for taking such good care of us and that we wish we didn’t have to leave. He told me that the linen closet was available. Since he had told William that he could sleep in there one night if he didn’t want to go into the room, I knew that it was not heated. I decided that we would have needed more notice to plan this better since our luggage was already in the terminal. We headed down to the atrium for the last time this cruise.

I dropped off a thank you for Cinderella at Guest Services before joining Mike and the kids in the line to go ashore. After a brief wait it moved quickly along. Before we knew it we were in the terminal with our luggage. Mike said that he would bring the bags along one by one if I took the kids thru the customs line. I told him that we would get a porter and not to worry about it. There were no porters in sight and lots of people holding up their hands. I took out the $10 bill that I had been saving for just this reason and held it up in my hand. Kaitlyn also stood next to me with her hand in the air. I don’t know if she was the reason one of the port workers stopped to ask if I wanted a porter or not, but something worked. He went to the door and got the next porter who walked thru to come help us. It turned out to be the same guy who helped us unload the car. He loaded up everything, including our carry ons and lead us to the line with our customs form. We were outside before I knew it heading to the car. We got the kids situated in their carseats while the porter loaded up the back of the explorer. There wasn’t any extra room back there. Sadly, we took one last look at our home for the past week and bid farewell to The Magic. The only consolation is knowing that we will return as soon as possible to enjoy another wonderful cruise.

Thx for the detailed Magic report, you made great memories!!

I haven't read you're review yet, I just printed it all out so that I can read it on my lunch hour! Thanks so much for writing such a thorough report. I can't wait to read it.

I'll post again with any questions after I read through it!

Lisa, what a great trip report!

I really enjoyed hearing about your great vacation. It sounds like each of the kids did as much as they were comfortable doing, and you and Mike went with the flow. That's probably the best prescription for a great vacation as any that I know of.

Please drop me a note if things change and you decide to move up to Pax. I'd love to see you after so many chats!

Lisa

Hey, Lisa. Funny you should mention that...DH got a job offer last week and is talking with them this week. I was going to search for a post from you so that I could pm you. Thanks for making it easier. :)

Lisa,

Thanks for the great post.

My son was 9 last year when we went and the look on his face when he saw the characters and got his picture taken with them was awesome. I can just imagine what it was like with little ones.

We are doing the western next year and I can't wait to get back on the ship.

Lisa,

Thanks for taking the time to write a report and post your photos!
My fave was the one of William passed out at the dinner table with his dinner wrapped up in the swan :p Priceless!

Thanks! That is one of mine too. :) He had gone 3 days without a nap & had been going nonstop since we entered the DCL terminal Saturday morning at 10:30. It finally caught up with him. We managed to wake him up after his 1 1/2 hour nap at dinner to get in line to take the formal picture with Mickey & Minnie. Mickey had to tickle him to get him to open his eyes & stand there. :)

Great trip reports.

One question. What room were you in. By the photos it appeared to be 7010. We are in 7004 or 6 as we have 2 adjoining rooms. What did you think of the location? Last year we were in 7003 and loved the location. Just curious. Thanks

woody

We really liked 7010! I wish that we could stay in that stateroom again but were lucky enough to have been upgraded from an 11 on deck 6. Who knows what will happen the next time?

Loved your very detailed report!!! Thanks for sharing your vacation with all of us! :)

Loved your entire report - it contained quite a few tips and tricks I have not read about before.
