if you are at the gates and they open soarin @ 9:30, how long does it take to get thru the line? is fastpass open at this time??

FP does not open until the official opening of the park. If you are in line before 9:30 you can get through the line & ride before the 10am opening of the park.

We were there last month at just after 9:30 and went straight to Soarin'. I didn't see FP available at that time. We got through the exterior line pretty quickly, but were held in various places inside before we got to the ride itself. So it ended up taking just about 1/2 hour from when we entered to the ride's finish, and when we were done the rest of the park had opened up.

Do you think it would be best to ride Soarin first and then go to Toy Story Midway Mania or bypass Soarin at 9:30 and line-up for TSMM? We will be there in a couple weeks.

I have been able to successfully get FPs for Soarin before park opening at 10 am. I normally grab a FP before getting on Soarin when they open the gates at 9:30. This is just my experience, not saying it's always the case.

I have heard the lines for TSMM are the WORST first thing in the AM because everyone wants to ride. But if you wait until afternoon the line is not that bad. Of cours I have no first hand experience and won't until December and then i expect all the lines will be bad.

If you are planning to get to DCA early, i suggest you dont go to soarin, but go to The Tower of Terror, while the no goers fastpass soarin, if you can shimmy to the front of the line (like me and my cousins did), you may get to hold the red velvet rope and go on it first, alone, with just your group, its a great memory, and its really cool. Plus, EVERYONE thinks that getting to Osarin earlier means the line will be shorter, its just longer that way! Fastpass is the only way to go with that ride.

GRR is disconnected from the rest of the FP system in CA, so you can grab a GRR FP plus another one. Screamin might be a good one, if you don't want to wait around to FP Soarin' first thing.

So if you decided to ride TSMM later in the day and avoid the first rush... you could go into CA at 9:50 or so... wait at rope drop, head for GRR and FP it, keeping going around and head for Maliboomer or Screamin' and FP it, and then keep going and hit Tot while it's still early. If you're that kind of ride person. (I'm still trying to convince DD13 to go on ToT; so far she's adamant that there's no way)

I just got back from a trip to DL 7-16 to 7-18 and it is best to avoid TSMM in the morning. It sometimes isn't ready to go in the mornings! (much like me!)

Wait until the second half of the day and ride it once in the long queue and then take your family on the single-rider lane.

So the single rider line is open now?

Molly, I have been reading reports that the single rider line has been open on and off for weeks now. It is always up to the discretion of the ride CM's if they keep the single rider line open and they seem to be basing it on the length of the que.

I just got back from DL 7/13-17. We went to TSMM first thing, and it took an hour to get off the ride. The ride wasn't working at first, and there was a long line, but that made quite a few people get out of line.

I wanted to go on the ride in the afternoon the previous day, but the person I was with didn't want to wait 40 minutes. I waited alone with my three-year-old son in the morning. I'm glad I went first thing since he'd get crankier and act out in the afternoons. (It was my fault for waking him up early so that we could see everything and Disneyland's fault for providing the over-stimulation. :) )

After the wait, the ride was worth it. My son and I loved it!

So is it possible to do Lilo and Stitch bkft, make it to DCA by 9:30, grab a FP for Soarin'...then ride it ...then head to other rides at 10:00 (grabbing another FP for ToT or Screamin')??? We'll be able to FP GRR too since it's not connected right? Then plan on TS for later in the afternoon? I've never done DCA with much of a plan. Now that DD is older and is tall enough and willing to go on more rides, I think planning is necessary. Since I think we'll only be in DCA for 1 day I want to make sure we do things in the right order, and we difinitely cannot miss TS!
