I heard a rumor that they might change the name, have any of you heard of this??

To what? Pixarland? LOL Sorry that's a Dis joke. I haven't heard anything....anyone?

I don't think there is any concrete proof of a name change, but I think it is a reasonable assumption that once all the changes are complete in DCA and the theme has been altered a bit to reflect the 1920's - 1930's Hollywood period in Walt Disney's life, a slight, subtle name change could soon follow. I don't think they would change it drastically, but it could be a matter of replacing one word with another, such as "Disney's Hollywood Adventure," rather than California Adventure or something similar to that. I would not at all be surprised to see the name change in a few years.

I think since they are keeping/ retheming the "national park" section of the park, and adding the open road "cars" section, the California name has to stay. I'm still hoping for a name change there...carsland...((((shutter)))
I think something along the lines of "Walt Disney's California Adventure" since it supposed to be California when Walt arrived.

I'd say that a name change or a better PR blitz is needed. Everyone I talk to who isn't a big DL-freak/fan has no clue that DCA is called that (I think the most common name I hear is "Adventureland"), that it is right next to DLR and some don't even know that it is part of Disney.

I agree. Why not just call it Radiator Springs?

And adding "Walt" was the first thing I thought of too!

I am almost certain that 'Walt' will be added into the name, whatever the name of DCA ends up being, but I still think we may see a slight change in the rest of the name too, over the next few years. Nothing too off the wall or 180 degrees different from what it is now, but just something a little different.

And I have always, always, always said that I thought Carsland was a dumb, boring name for a land. (Though usually when I said it, folks disagreed with me! Where were you guys when I needed you??:rotfl:) I know that Cars is a movie and this will be a land that celebrates that movie, but it is a terrible name. It couldn't be more lackluster. Radiator Springs would be SOOOOOOOOOOO much better. 'A Bug's Land' makes much more sense because it is a clever play on the name of the movie, but it doesn't work the same way with 'Carsland.'

I agree Radiator Springs is much better. Is there some broader picture they are trying to acheive with Carsland? They must have considered Radiator Springs. It seems so obvious. Wonder why they didn't go with it. :confused3 Did they feel like they would have to show the entire town if they called it that?

First I thought maybe it was just supposed to be a working name for the land as they build it, and that, hopefully, once it is up and running, someone will come to their senses and realize that Carsland as a name has no oomph at all and must be changed! Let's hope that is still what will happen. The other thing I thought of was that they were trying to keep the Pixar-themed lands similarly named, so they figured, well, hey, we have A Bug's Land so we have to have Carsland. But, as stated in my previous post, A Bug's Land is clever because it plays on the name of the movie so it works. And all the lands in DL have names that work. Carsland just doesn't have that same zing.

As you said, Budgie, Radiator Springs would be an obvious choice. Isn't one of the upcoming attractions in Carsland supposed to be called Radiotor Springs something-or-other? Maybe they didn't want to have a land AND an attraction with Radiator Springs in the name. But they would be better off changing the name of the attraction to something else and renaming Carsland to Radiator Springs.

I agree carsland is a boring name! Always thought so... Call it anything but carsland. :worship: Route 66, Radiator Springs, Lightnings World or even World of Cars. But just carsland ugh....
And for DCA drop the California, just "Walt Disneys Adventure" works for me.
Our family always jokes that DCA stands for
Disneys "Concrete" Adventure !!! Lol :rotfl2:

They should just call it: DCA Part Deaux, or DCA Revisited, or DCA Round II or maybe DCA Here We Go Again.

Well, they could add the word 'Grand' into it, as in "Disney's Grand California Adventure." That would make it confusing enough to be something a suit would think was a good idea
