I got a call this morning from a good friend of mine and he asked if I would like to go to the Cast Member Preview today of Disney’s California Adventure. So here is the predicament. I was supposed to go to my mother-in-law’s with my family for a game day.
DCA preview or mother-in-law’s…DCA preview or mother-in-law’s
Well my decision… DCA Preview of course.

We met up at 11:00 and entered the new park and took a walk around the whole park. All I can say is that I was very impressed with what I saw. We walked through all the districts and checked everything out. My friend had to go to work so I spent the rest of the afternoon touring the park by myself. The park is very well laid out. I did notice that some of the walkways are a little narrow and may get crowded on summer days. The wait times today seemed to be around 30-45 minutes on most attractions. The only ride that did not appear to be operating was the Jumpin’ Jellyfish, but I think it was just a temporary thing as it appeared that they were working on it.

I spent five hours just walking around the park and taking pictures. I took over 150 of them. I am going to try and get them labeled and added to my Photopoint site as quickly as possible. I did not go on any rides today, I thought I would save that for when I go back on the 30th with my family. They are mad enough at me for going today without them.

If I can answer any question about DCA just let me know.

Calbay,
I am in BIG trouble. My wife and both daughters are all very BIG Disney fans. I'm just glad we don't have a dog house in the back yard. At least in the garage I can sleep in one of the vans....

All I can say is that you're going to have to spoil those gals something fierce to make up for exploring DCA without them. Hmmmm, maybe I should talk to Shivahn.... ;) ;)

Don’t do anything I’ll regret MaryJo.
I’m in enough trouble already. I’m hearing things like "Boy I sure would like a nice cold drink" or "Oh, I think it’s time to change the laundry from the washer to the dryer" and then those statements are followed by "But I guess your to tired help me out since you spent the day in DCA, so I guess I’ll have to do it myself" When it comes to laying on the guilt no one comes close to the girls in my nightmare… oh I mean life :-)

once again a BIG thank you.....

ps DO not concede too much.....=)))

Goofster,
Did you notice any good people watching (or card playing) spots like the tables at the Plaza? Are you going to split your time between both parks or will you still be a fixture at Disneyland?

It is good to see a positive review of DCA. It got pretty well trashed on another board. We are looking forward to our July visit.

I am so jealous of some of you guys who live close to DCA and DL. I can't wait to visit but that won't be until 2003 :( The only good thing that I think can come from this is the novelty of DCA will have worn off and the crowds(figners crossed) will be managable. Keep the trip reports and info coming!

KarenT,
I did do some looking while I was there. The Pacific Wharf area looked good as did the table area outside the Bakery and Ice Cream shop at the Entry Plaza. We will probably still spend most of our time at Disneyland and go to DCA 3-4 times a month to eat in some of the restaurants.
