We're planning our trip for Aug. '03. We do belong to DC. Is it a better idea to get ressies now, using our DC rates, and then change it when AP rates come out?? With that in mind, when do the summer AP historically come out? I just used our DC the last time, but would like to try maybe a deluxe this time. The AP rate might make that happen. Any suggestions??? We're thinking of the Poly or CR for the last half and a mod. for the first half.

I don't have an answer, but would like to expand on your question, in the hopes someone has an answer for both of us! I'm planning a Nov. or Dec. 2003 trip, and after reading these boards, am now planning to get an AP. We've just joined the DC. I haven't been able to find the 2003 rates for DC yet, but like you, I don't know if I should book now, and try to get the AP rate when it comes out?

From what I understand, the DC reservations are packages, and not "room only" rates, so I'm thinking the DC reservation would have to be cancelled, then a new reservation made with the AP rate. Also, from what I've read, the AP rates may not be effective for the time and/or resort you're looking for, so I don't know if I would want to wait for those AP rates to come out, to make the reservation....

Bottom line....does it all come down to what your comfort level is? Any suggestions? thanks in advance.

I booked the Poly for July 2003 with a AAA discount (I do have DC) anyway, I was told to go ahead and book the room and then when and if AP rates become available I could change it. I also booked a package with a DC discount, called the DC number to make the reservation. When I made the reservation and asked about booking the resort one more night but not on a package and she told me she could do that for me. She did and it was room only, I didn't have to have mini-golf or anything like that. I got the one bedroom BCV room for $367.98 a night. And she told me that when the AP rates came out I could cancel that reservation and make one with the AP rate if available. She did tell me that CRO and WDTC were 2 different computer systems and that the reservations couldn't be transferred between systems. Who knows?

I called CRO yesterday. Made ressies, using my DC for CBR. $150 per night, water-view. A little much, but as I told Sonya, the CM, I would be calling again(and again, and again) when the 'good' codes came out. It looks like the DC barely pays for the 11% tax! Hoping I can get something cheaper this spring.

goofyfortink,

I called this morning and was told that the DC rate included tax! So, if you take (in my case) the rack of $77 for all stars plus 11% tax that's 85.47 per nite compared to $69 for DC. Times the five nites=$82.35-a nice little dinner there. I'll take it.

Can someone please tell me what is an AP rate? What does AP
mean? Do you need to be a member of something to get this
rate? Thank You:confused:

AP is annual pass. check out mousesavers.com -she will tell you all about it. I deemed it a good enough deal to buy one for the room discounts, even though we live in Texas and will really be pushing it to go three times in one year--but I'm gonna try!;)

There is a good explanation of the difference in systems at www.wdwig.com/resort.htm
Hope this helps!

When booking thru DC, you get a free voucher to Sport Complex or Mini Golf. That is how they make your "room only" reservation into a package.
