Hi,

I would like to do Discovery Cove this coming trip. I just wondered if you got pictures included in the day pass of if there was an extra charge?

If so, how much? :)

They are not included (except for the polaroid they take when you arrive).

I had intended to write down the prices to be able to answer this question then forgot in my dolphin euphoria.

I know I spent way more than I had intended on photos/DVDs

I got 8 photos, a key chain, a photo book, 2 DVDs (the 1st dolphin swim and the second "enhanced dolphin experience"), a poster, and the photo CD for about $400 :scared1:.

I wish I had gotten only the photo CD and the DVD of the dolphin swim - I think that would have been about $150 but I'm not sure. The photo CD is very nice and includes all the pictures, not just of the dolphin experiences, but of the aviary, stingray lagoon, etc. Just keep seeking out the photographers. The photographs are very nice and they print them out well, but you can get them printed out at home by your local budget photo place and avoid having to haul them home. I don't know what I was thinking! :rotfl: Good marketing.

So - learn from my mistake!

I need to know this too-Thanks for asking.
I will be watching so I can include in our budget.

There's package options and a la carte options. I believe the lowest a la carte option for a pic was like $20, all I remember thinking is "that's revoltingly expensive". Keep in mind I detest pictures of myself and really never went in with the intention of getting the pics. If you prepare yourself and budget for them, go for it. Some people love the pics and its like a physical memory....for me it was more "I had so much fun...but I look terrible!"

here is an email dc sent to me last week.....

Thanks - this helps a lot! I just spaced your post out so it was easier to read - I was getting confused.

I am going to dc on March 13th and am a huge photo lover as I am an avid scrapbooker. I saw an ala carte item of a marble tile. DOes anyone know what this is? I am very curious.

My guess would be that it is one of those nick-nack things that I have seen used for spoon rests in people's kitchens or hanging as decorations. Of course I am not sure. You are still ahead of me though if you know what a USB Drive is because I don't.

I should have been reading this thread yesterday instead of starting a new one yesterday to ask my question. I thought that the Sea World photographers were sort of like the PhotoPass photographers at Disney. Are these professional pictures taken only at Discovery Cove or throughout Sea World?

I wish they would put this on their website lol.
Thank you for posting this.
I had been thinking all along of getting the ultimate package since I am a photo nerd. But after reading that, I am wondering if it would be cheaper just to buy the dvd and the photo cd. hmmmm.... can you buy just the cd and dvd? Or do you have to buy a package first? Cause if I gotta buy a package I might as well just go for the ultimate lol.
Ohh.... my brain LOL!:headache:

The photography at Sea World and Discovery Cove is provided by the same company (Adventure Photo) but they are separate - you cannot put your Sea World photos on your DC CD. You can get some photos at Sea World and either purchase them individually or a CD or jump drive at the end of your day. I think this is the way Disney did it before photopass.

Yes - you can buy the CD and DVD a la carte and it is much much cheaper! It is hard to turn down the packages not because they are mean or pushy but because it is well marketed. The photos are printed up on good quality paper and look very nice. Kind of a pain to haul home though and I use the ones from the CD WAY more often!

Just to clarify, how much is a cd of all photo's taken? Thats all I would want to be honest.

BUY THE CD IT IS GREAT. DON'T REMEMBER WHAT WE PAID. TOOK OUR GRANDBABY FOR HER 10TH BIRTHDAY. IT WAS THE BEST TIME EVER. I AM OLD AND FAT. AND STILL HAD A GREAT TIME... GREAT. NO IT WAS NOT CHEAP, BUT SHE IT 12 NOW AND STILL TALK'S ABOUT IT AND WANT'S TO DO IT AGAIN AT 15. REALLY ONE OF THE BEST TIME'S I EVER HAD:surfweb:

To quote from up above: Digital Photo CD - $75 $79.88 with a package / $125 $133.13 a la carte.

What is the enhanced dolphin swim? Also, is the video of the regular dolphin swim?
We will be going in may of 2012 for our anniversary and I am hoping my husband surprises me with a special bouy... does anyone know if we would have to purchase a seperate photo and video disc or will they put everything together?

We are going with a party of 6 people (family and grandmothers). Do you know if we can get the pictures of all 6 people on one photo cd?

Thanks!

The enhanced dolphin swim was a special extra you could buy the day we were there. Because the park was not full, we could purchase ($59) an extra dolphin encounter which ended with the 2-foot push instead of the dolphin tow. It was about as long as the 1st encounter. If you were getting a package and had bought the first DVD, you could buy a second DVD for this experience for an additional $15.

In terms of the photo CD - they will put ALL pictures from your whole day on it.

If he buy one of the upgraded packages, with a buoy and whatever else, some of them come with a small photo package included, others don't. But when you buy a CD or flash drive you get all photos taken of you during the day.

The advanced dolphin swim costs more because they have to use a second CD since the swim is later in the day.

We've been to DC twice now. Haven't bought a CD pix or video either time. However, both times there was at least one member of our party who didn't do the dolphin experience so I got photos/video that way. Last Sept. my DM took the pix and since she stressed a little about doing the video last time (she shot video of another woman, not me!) she didn't want to do the video this year. That was okay with me. She got some good shots.

There are spots that someone in your group can photograph from that are pretty good. But no, there aren't as great as ones in the water.

If I didn't have someone to take pix of us I would probably have bought some. Just not too many. Too much $$.

After your experience they take you in to view your pix. We stood there for about a minute and then politely said we weren't interested. There was no pressure to buy.

Here's a few of our own photos:

These were all taken in 2007. I haven't uploaded 2010 to photobucket yet.

Last year I bought a Kodak Playsport just to take pix and video at DC. The best about $100 I spent. Took great pix and video. I was able to shoot DD11 under the water as she swam. I could use it everywhere but with the dolphins.

I loved DC and can't wait to do it again! One of our best experiences. Even if you don't do the dolphin experience.
