My DBf has just been diagnosed with Hypertension, he's only 21 and high blood pressure runs in his family, so I guess its a good thing that they found this out now, before it can be around long enough to do more damage. Doesn't make me any less paranoid though. He's entirely too stressed out between school and his job, and I doubt this is helping. Any suggestions on what foods he should or should not eat? Also, I know a lot of roller coasters say that people with high blood pressure shouldn't ride them, he loves thrill rides and I'm worried that this will affect that, does anyone know? Most likely I'm worrying about this more than I should be.....

If his pressure is under control with meds there's no reason why he can't ride coasters or other thrill rides.
Low sodium diets are recommended for those with HBP.

I recently was diagnosed with high blood pressure and cholesterol. My doctor recommended I exercise 30 min a day. As far as my diet, low sodium. I'm borderline needing meds to control, I've been exercising for years now and don't eat a lot of high sodium foods, so I'm probably going to end up on meds.

Is your DBF on meds now or are they trying to control with exercise/diet?
I would suggest he check with his doctor as far as roller coasters and other rides. My doctor never mentioned anything about them to me.

Cut out caffiene. A lot of 21 year olds love their Red Bull, Mountain Dew, etc. No more of that.
