Daytona Traffic next weekend?

Hi everyone,

We are driving down from NYC next friday and I'am wondering how the traffic is around Daytona with the Daytona 500 scheduled for Sunday. We were going to stop in GA on Friday night and continue st morning, but I'am worried about trafic going to the races on Saturday. Is the race traffic anything to worry about on saturday morning? and if so is there an alternate route around Daytna from I-95?

On Saturday morning you really shouldn't have any problems.

As is the op, we will be going past Daytona this Saturday. However, we will be in that area around 4:00 . I did some research, but taking an alternate route from Jax will add well over an hour. Should we do this? How bad is the traffic after the Nationwide race? Thanks.

You very well may have problems.

Several years ago I came down on the Friday before the race and it was backup up into Flaggler County on I95. It took well over an hour to get to LPGA Blvd where you can get off and go around.

There are other ways around but they will add time. I would have several alternate routes mapquested so you know what your options are if you run into heavy traffic.
