Just got back from Florida. Unfortunatally I didn't get to do Disney this time because it was a business trip to Ft. Lauderdale and there is no way I want to go to WDW in the summer. However, I did stop with the girls in Daytona Beach and it was wonderful. Sue and Wheelsie this is the place for you! First with a handicap pass you get to drive on the beach for free and then better then that, the lifeguard station has free beach wheelchairs that can be signed out. I put Michaela in Megan's lap, fastened the seat belt on them and down the beach to the water we went. Both girls got down in the ocean and had the time of their life.

We are heading to Daytona later this week=

Not sure I really want to drive on the beach ........ but sure Dan would love too.

I'd prefer he transfer to the sand chair but he prefers not to......

Driving on the beach at Daytona is fine my Mom used to do it every summer back in the 1940's and 1950's. If my 15 passenger van doesn't get stuck noting will as long as you drive where the signs tell you to. Don't forget to show them your handicap pass so you can get in free and ask the attendant where to find the free beach wheelchairs.

We went to Daytona last week and purchased a small condo while there. It is on the first floor and w/c accessible! I appreciated this thread since while there I talked to the life guard and confirmed that beach chairs are availbable free of charge!

We will be renting the unit so I already made a sign for the room telling folks how to get a chair and that the ramp to the beach is right next door.

Next trip Dan will get one of those chairs and head out on the beach (he has promised) ! However this trip we were very busy and didn't have time.

Now we need to divide our vacation time between Daytona and DVC! If only we had more time off!
