Well, I am giving up the idea of going to Busch Gardens and thinking about stopping at Daytona Beach for one night on our way home. Can anyone reccomend a hotel there? We would love something on the beach with a balcony and a great pool area. Are there any things to do there at night like putt putt, go-carts, amusement park and stuff? Thank You.

Two years ago, we left Orlando and stayed on Daytona Beach for 1 night. We did not have reservations, but found a Super 8 right on the beach. We did not have a balcony room facing the ocean but when you stepped out on the balcony and looked to the left, you could see the ocean. It was reasonably priced and had a decent pool area. You would walk right out on to the beach and to the left was the pier area, where there are lots of things to do. Go-carts, carnival type, boardwalk atmosphere. very fun and the hotel was clean and nice. Had a microwave and minifridge.
We were going to stay there again this year, but decided to go to Daytona first just for the day before going to Orlando, and drive back on the West Coast and go to St. Pete Beach. I would definatly stay at the Super 8 again. I do not usually stay at Super 8's, I was leary. We even checked out some other hotels on the beach before choosing that one. If you stop, and ask the people working at the desk at the hotels, they will let you look at the rooms before deciding to stay there.

There are alot on the beach, if you want a nicer one, there is one, that has a lazy river that goes around the pool area, I saw it in the Daytona Book for Visitors and on Hotel Kingdom.com.

Have fun!

we stayed at the Surfside inn resort and suites, very reasonable about $70. a night $10 ex. for efficiency(full fridge, micro, full stove, sink and dishes) well worth it. very clean all had oceanfront balconies overlooking the pool and beautifull beach, the hotel is a little old but very clean, nice oceanfront pool jacuzzi, and 2 steps to the beach here's the website, http://www.daytonasurfsideinn.com/ they have a 3-d tour of the rooms, only about 40 min. to orlando easy drive and some cheap restaurants across the bridge,be sure to go to the racetrack and the lighthouse, i know it seems boring but we all enjoyed it...and take a drive right on the beach...

Last year, I won a bid on Priceline for a 3* (that's the highest for Daytona beach) and got the Adams Mark hotel for $45.00- this was Oct 6/03. The hotel is a 5* and was absolutely beautiful.

We got the 10th floor with sliding glass doors that opened up to overlook the beach- the Sunrise was beautiful. Valet parking is extra $10.00 a day- Self park is $6.00

We visit Daytona every couple of years. For a quieter beach (more family oriented) visit Ormond. Also if you get a chance drive down the coast to Lighthouse...great scenic drive. Have fun!

The hotel with the lazy river is called oceanwalk resort. We are staying there in August for 3 days. We got a rate of 109. a night, but I have seen people able to get it for 99. This is for a 1 bedroom. They have a water slide and outdoor and indoor pools. You get a kitchen in the room and also a washer and dryer in the room which is a plus for me since we are going from wdw to there. They also have a little kiddie water park, basically with a little playground in the water. www.oceanwalk.com They also have a new mini golf inside the resort. Don't know how to post pictures but here are some websites with pictures of teh resort.

Another vote for the Ocean Walk. Everything is in walking distance of it. There's a great restaurant called the Ocean Deck http://www.oceandeck.com about 1 block south of the pier that's right on the beach, and as everyone else mentioned, there's lots to do. Have fun!

Thanks for the replies. Ocean Walk is exactly the kind of place I was looking for. They were booked and did not rent for one night so I can't use that one. We decided just to go to the Ocean Sands since it was about the cheapest. I guess since we will be there for only one night it won't matter.
