Has anyone ever done this? What is the drive like?

I always get a car anyhow so the extra gas cost should be minimal.

TIA
Sandy

I've driven I-4 from Daytona to Orlando....it's doable & not a bad drive. Just don't do it during rush hour. :earseek: Traffic can be heavy any time during the day but that rush hour traffic is a bear to deal with.

It is about 75 - 80 miles from Daytona Airport to WDW. This involves taking I-4 though the Downtown Orlando area. I agree that gas would not be a factor.

However, the cost of a car rental may be much higher out of Daytona than Orlando. Also, Air fares to smaller airports tend to be much higher than for large airports. Both of these because there is not much competition.

I would suggest before getting any tickets check on both rental car and airline prices.

I would check prices closely, depending on time of year, but I know in Feb. it's expensive to fly into Daytona (Speed week with the conclusion of the Daytona 500.)

When my husband flew down 3 years ago, his friends were driving & picked him up at the Jacksonville Airport, it was a lot cheaper to fly there than Daytona.

I am saving money coming in from Tampa! Tampa is a bigger city, isn't it? Might want to compare!
