Daytona Advice needed

We will be staying one night in Daytona on our way to Disney. We have never been to Daytona before and would like some advice on things to do and a place to eat. We would like to keep the budget low, because we do not want to spend a lot on our first night of our vacation. We would like to eat local seafood, but are not sure were to eat. We would also like to do something, we are just not sure what, we are considering the pier with the skyride, the Marine Science Center down in ponce Inlet, but would also like to consider a little boat ride, kinda like a dolphin cruise, but we cannot seem to fine a resonable one. It seems like they are all over 30 per adult, which is way higher than we have ever paid in the gulf side for a 2 hr cruise. We could only do one of these things for budge, and time constraints, call us crazy but we'd like to see the beach a little too. We will be arriving there about 12 noon or earlier.

Any advice? Any other ideas?

The Marine Science Center in Ponce Inlet is cool. They also have the lighthourse which you can climb up that is pretty reasonable as well. As far as good local seafood, there is a place underneath the Dunlawton bridge (south of Daytona) called Our Deck Down Under. It has the best seafood at a reasonable price. It is also right on the river and if you are lucky you can see dolphins hanging out in the river right by the pier. It is one of my favorite places to eat

Crabby Joe's is great for some fun fish and chips. We had an all you can eat fish fry with french fries for about $7 I think. The kids loved it there as well. It is right on a little fishing pier and is great for photos.

Also, check out the Daytona International Speedway. Even if there is nothing going on, there are some pretty cool things inside the building there

My husband's family has been going to Daytona Beach for over 25 years, twice a year. DH and I used to go frequently too. We spent the last half of our 25th anniversary celebration (after nine days at Disney) in Daytona last year. Some of our favorite Daytona restaurants are: Aunt Catfish, Inlet Harbor and Parks.

We love the Charlie Horse in Daytona. They have a good deal on crab there and it is really fresh. We also like Bubba Gumps at the pier but since it is a chain restaurant it is similar to the ones I have been to in Chicago and Honolulu. The kids enjoyed both places, Charlie Horses for the food, Bubba Gumps for the atmosphere.
